Avoid Broad Street end nearest to hotel - full of skanky drunks at the weekend.

The location of this hotel was perfect for my requirements, only a very short walk (10 mins) into the centre of town. An ideal base for shopping, nightlife and dining. Unfortunaley my room was quite dark, and not as warm as I would like, but other than that a great hotel.

Park at the Marriott, leave the car and walk to all local attractions.Saves so much hassle.

We arrived to our allocated room the air conditioning did not work my wife complained we were sent a fan. I was trying to work the shower it did not work I complained and asked if the hotel was fully booked? We were given another room the side table lamp near the bathroom did not work. There was a used tablet of soap left in the corner of the bathroom on the top of the bath. I gave up complaining at this point and put up with the substandard accomodation. Only good thing about the stay was the breakfast arrangements 10 out of 10 for that.

We were very pleased with our executive room which was a smoking room as requested. The king size bed was very comfortable and I slept really well. There was no noise from adjacent rooms or the corridor. The bathroom was a decent size with a big window. I went down to the leisure centre for a swim on both Saturday and Sunday mornings at 6.00 and -7.00 am and both times it was very quiet - at 6am I had the pool to myself. Towels were provided and there was an excellent large jacuzzi - next time I would also use the gym. Service in the bar and elsewhere was excellent and we felt personally welcomed. The hotel was within easy walking distance of the city centre once the porter showed us which way to head.
