Definitely ride the bus system. Both the public (blue stripe) and the private (red stripe) busses are $1.50 Barbados. You can easily take the private busses, which go by the hotel every few minutes, to Bridgetown, and then take any bus from there to all parts of the island. I would seriously NOT rent a car.

Pros: 1. Great spot for kite surfing 2. Spacious rooms 3. Free Wi-Fi 4. Reasonably priced 5. Very helpful & friendly office staff 6. Good food 7. Liked the Rusk bathroom soaps, lotions, etc Cons: 1. AC only in the bedroom 2. Alot less scenic, picturesque and "modern" than depicted on the website pictures 3. Limited menu choices that you may grow tired of after several days of eating the same thing 4. Not a "full-service" hotel so no office staff or resturant available if you arrive late and no on-site gym. They can however arrange for use of the gym at a neighboring hotel 5. Location is in a residential area and at least a 10-20 min cab ride each way, from anything. Considering that there is not alot to do there or after hours ammenities, plan on renting a car or paying a cabbie anytime you want to get out

DON'T MISS THE FISH FRY AT OLSTINS, IT IS A MUST IF YOU LIKE TO TAKE IN THE LOCAL CUSTOMS. I WOULD SUGGEST RENTING A CAR IF YOU LIKE TO GET OUT AND EXPLORE THE ISLAND.

If you rent a car for freedom of movement, make sure to have a good map of the Silver Sands area. Driving from the hotel to almost any place can be tricky due to the maze of small streets in Crist Church, some of which do not show up on handout maps, which are generally not very datailed.

shopping and dining is best on teh western side of teh isalnd. st lawrence, worthing up to spitetown is excellent.

we chose silver point as our vacation spot to celebrate 10 years of marriage, was the best holiday that I have ever been on. The fish fry Friday night in Oistins is a must!! Bars/restaurants in the Gap don't open until evening. And everyone is on "island time" - if you need a cab or dinner, then call/go at least a half hour before you need to.

This hotel is fantastic! We got such an awesome deal I did not expect to show up and have an incredible ocean front room overlooking white sand beaches and crystal blue water. In addition the service was one-of-a-kind. The whole staff greeted us by name everyday and a few took us out on the town when they had the day off. I have never felt so at home before on a vacation.
