Left sitting at Miri border crossing in rain, dark and mosquito bites, three hours. Ten calls from immigration station - differing answers as reasons for the delay - taxi driver 'got lost'. Direct journey took hour once the taxi came so we knew someone was lying. Charged for tour which did not match criteria, and for 3rd person in our party who was absent. Construction work through the wall of my room, smell of paint which gave me a sore throat and made my eyes stream. I was sick. My phone and credit card did not work at the hotel. Caused great problems. Both worked once in Miri. Bought valuable watch at hotel shop, price miscalculated, guarantee missing. In Thailand and Malaysia for a month staying at Orientals and Raffles, all terrific, their local trips fascinating and informative. Empire stunning hotel to view but oddly disconsolate air amongst staff which we never found in Thailand and Malaysia. Very disappointed. Will not return to Brunei. Very poor in contrast to rest of wonderful journey through South East Asia. Great pity, you will know from other bookings via hotel.com, and response questionnaires, every other hotel and area unbeatable memories; sorry.
