A short guide to: Downtown - San Diego Intl Airport (SAN)

San Diego’s waterfront airport lies northwest of downtown, which is home to the San Diego Convention Center, PetCo Park stadium, and the Gaslamp Quarter’s. That historic neighborhood’s restaurants and bars are the hub of the city’s nightlife. Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo form a green swath in this urban jungle. Offshore, Coronado Island offers postcard views of the city skyline.

Would stay again, no problem

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The only complaint we have is the shower. It was maybe five feet tall, and no water pressure whatsoever.

Great for Families

We were recently in San Diego with my whole family (including 2 grandsons-Age 4). This hotel was perfect for families. The breakfast was great including waffels--never ran out even though very busy! Suggest request room on opposite side from freeway--could be heard but not bad. Other side is completely soundproof. Noisy outside but very conveniently located.

Clean. It will be my choice in San Diego.

Basic room but clean and fairly easy to get to downtown or the airport. Just minutes from nice spots on the hill in old town. I was pleasantly surprised.

Best value/location so far in SD

Don't miss the Cirque de la mere act at Sea World! It was probably more fun for adults than kids - but we all loved it!

What are you looking for?

If you just need a roof over your head without a lot of frills, this hotel should be okay. The good: the hotel staff was resonably friendly and responsive, the breakfast was good (waffle makers, toaster, hard boiled egges, microwave, etc.), the room was clean, we were 2 minutes from Old Town (but I would skip it if we visited again), and about 10 minutes from SeaWorld and Downtown, the hotel has a parking garage under the hotel. The not-so-good: the hotel is RIGHT on I-5. If traffic noise bothers you, don't stay here. Even with our airconditioner fan running we could hear the roar of the freeway. The pool was pretty small. My kids swam every day but at one point there were 10 people in the pool and it looked like the lines at Disneyland they were so crowded.

Good for the price

Stayed at this hotel to attend US Open golf at Torrey Pines. Hotel was clean and the staff were very helpfull. Breakfast in the foyer gets a little crowded at times. Close to all things we needed and a short cab ride to Petco Park for the ball game

Worth the money

The hotel was very clean, quiet & modern. The 24 hour store in the lobby was very convenient. The only down side was the airport shuttle did not leave until 6:00 am.

Good budget hotel

Do not cross over to Tijuana. The city is/looks very rough but the worst of all is the time it takes to get back to USA. Over an hour bumper to bumper. If you really want to see a little of Mexico, go to Tecate. Nice little town off SR 94. And if you call in advance you can get a tour of the Tecate brewery.
