Go to Pier 39. There is a lot to do and see. Fisherman's Wharf is okay but Pier 39 is the place to be.

We couldn't have been happier with the location of the hotel and the service provided by the staff. Although the rooms were on the small size, they were comfortable and everything was in good working order. We'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking to be around Union Square

Was a excellent stay all around. Great location, wonderful friendly staff, and nice comfortable rooms. Hotel is small, but something i personally enjoy, and felt quite at ease there. I look forward to goin back there.

I loved this hotel. It's got a ton of character, from the bustle of Geary Street that it faces, to the afternoon wine and cheese. The rooms are bright and clean and eccentric, w/ quotes about California and San Francisco from various writers painted discreetly on the walls, and the staff are courteous, helpful and totally accommodating. The location (although JUST bordering an area in SF called the Tenderloin, which is a bit dodgy) is terrific - walking distance to everything, and right in the heart of the theatre district. I would recommend earplugs - that is if you are in a room that faces Geary. it's a pretty noisy street and sleep could be a problem for those who don't wear earplugs. But apart from that, this hotel is absolutely awesome. I will stay there any time I'm in SF from here on in!

I stayed at the Hotel California 5 nights and everything was perfect. You are 2 blocks from Union Square, which makes it a good "base" to explore town. The staff was friendly and helpful. I arrived a couple of hours before check in and was given the room straight away. You have free wireless and, even if the website does not mention it, there is a small gym with a treadmill, a bike and a few machines. You can get free coffee and tea from the reception area during the whole day. There is even a (free) wine and cheese reception every day between 4 and 6p.m. My room did not have a fridge (which could have helped to store some snacks), but there are loads of places selling deli, breakfast and salads all around. Rooms are also brightly decorated. A bit noisy at night due to the traffic outside. Overall I was very impressed.

It was cold (in the 40's at night) when were there and with the wind it felt like 30. Take warm clothing! Visit Alcatraz and definitely do the bike ride over the bridge to Sausalito! If you like Jazz, checkout Jazz at Pearls.

This hotel is located very convenience to sightseeing, and also they serve free coffee and wine. Roome was small but cosy, confortable. I like this hotel.
