The Whitcomb, a Historic Hotel of America - rated 8

"Bottom line - not clean and in poor state of repair"
    by J Matthews. in London

Unfortunately I can't recommend this hotel. Although the staff were polite and helpful, our first room was so dirty in the bathroom that we asked to be moved. The second room was just about acceptable, however the carpet was old and stained and in general this was an old building in poor state of repair. The location of the hotel is also not idea, this was our first visit to San Fran and in future I would rather stay somewhere a bit further uptown. It was not the best neighbourhood.
