We found Grosvenor Suites very well located in San Francisco, inbetween and close to both Union scare and Chinatown. It was also possible to walk to Fishermans Warf. The hotel was however almost at the top of the hills so you need to be in quite a good condition if you want to walk back to the hotel after having visited any of the mentioned places. Our room had two queen size beds, a bed sofa and a small kitchen department, and it easily hosted 5 people (whereof 2 children). Overall we were vary satisfied.

The suites were simple, clean, and close to the action. While I wouldn't spend my honeymoon there, I'd be happy to stay for any sort of short stay in the bay area

A older style traditional hotel but in a great location. Quiet rooms, staff were helpful & breakfast sufficient. Walk or get the cable car which passes the next block. Not many supermarkets nearby to buy food for use of the kitchenette. Be sure to take comfortable shoes & coats. We were there in July and the weather can be cold & foggy. SF makes a huge profit from tourists who take insufficient clothing and have to buy sweaters & fleeces.

good value for money; centrally located (but a serious climb from all waterfront locations) - rooms are spacious and well equiped with kitchen facilities and living room. Breakfast facilities is minimal though, do take it in the appartment!

If arriving on the Bart with luggage, take a cab/bus to the hotel which is located on top of the hill and walking to it can be a workout. Without luggage, hop the cable car and you're right there.

Get a MUNI pass and use it. A good route map is also very handy and you can get anywhere from Fort Point to the zoo and just about any point in between. The best route maps are not at the visitors center but at some of the local businesses.

Hotel is in a good location and walking distance from downtown. Streets in the area are very steep so walking can be a problem for the eldery.

We loved the location of the hotel! Could walk to Union Square, Chinatown and lots of other little shops and restaurants. The cable line is only a block away. The room was what we expected. Loved the fact that the parking was right there on site and easy to get in and out of. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful. We decided to cab it one night instead of drive the the person at the desk could have been more helpful. We waited and ended up getting our own cab after asking them to call again twice. Oh well! Other than that the rooms were clean, bathroom was a little small but what do you expect for a building that old. The continental breakfast was great so we didn't have to go out to breakfast. We would stay here again.
