Hotel Bijou is a lovely place, well decorated, centrally located and extremely friendly. But rooms can be rather noisy: mine was close to the lift which I heard all the time despite the ear plugs that were provided in the room.

Nice boutique hotel, with a cinematic theme, that can be quite inexpensive. Staff are always friendly in my experience. The location makes it a bit noisy (earplugs provided) but it's deep in the city so it's hard for it to be otherwise. Rooms are small but nice, each with it's own name of a famous film, and the small cinema in the lobby is just a jewel.

This was the cheapest hotel we stayed in, but it was good. The room was a good size, the staff friendly and helpful, the breakfast very good and the location convenient to the Information Centre, transport, and shops and restaurants. There was good cheap Indian and Thai food very close by. We also treated ourselves to a more expensive and delicious meal at Kuleto's(?) in Powell Street, an easy walk. The one drawback was that the hotel is on the edge of a poor area. There were some people in the nearby streets who appeared to be homeless. However we were at no stage accosted or threatened by anyone and although I'm a woman it did not stop me going out after dark by myself. The hotel is one short block from streets full of shoppers and tourists. Highly recommende if you are on a budget and you like to stay in the centre of things

Quite satisfied. But no air conditioning. Rooms OK in Fall period. Too hot I would think in Summer period. Recently decorated. Obviously popular, many visitors from many countries.

This hotel is good value - it's a bit quirky and the tiny cinema off the reception is lovely. All the staff were helpful and we couldn't fault the room. The only downside was the noise although the hotel does provide ear plugs!

My sister and I spent 3 nights at the Hotel Bijou in October 2008, the staff were friendly and the location was excellent, easy walking to Union Square, shopping and the street cars that take you to the wharf area. The staff were more than happy to book local tours and the airport shuttle for us. The only downside was the noise outside at night where some of the locals were extremely noisy. However we would both stay there again if we get the chance. The tine movie theatre is a must to visit and each room displaying a different movie title on the outside door is a novel idea.

Good location for exploring SF and very reasonably priced. Good size room, but no air-con. and due to street noise couldn't keep windows open at night. Breakfast provided was fairly basic and the breakfast room often too crowded to find a table. The local area was very noisy especially at night, and the beggars/homeless could be threatening for some travellers.

We have stayed Hotel Bijou for 2 night. Here is very good because of the place. We can just walk to the Union Square in 3 minutes. Also, very near from the BART, so easily come from Airport. And near from the Muni, and go to sight seeing! The room was fantastic, and silent. We want to use Hotel Bijou when we have chance to go back to San Francisco.

nice clean hotel, would probably stay there again. 2 things against it though. 1 on the edge of a dodgy neighbourhood. 2. the building next door is being renovated so there is a lot of noise. other than that it is ideally located near the main shopping area, only 2 blocks away. it also has its own cinema showing films shot in San Francisco

situation very central, 2min from the cable car and BART station this hotel is next to the dodgy area. comfort is ok but don't expect a correct breakfast: one morning they ran out of tea and orange juice and if you're lucky you will have some muffins but not every day...
