The room was beautiful and over looked the bay (this was extra). the hotle was very lean and comfortable and there were good facilities. The staff were very helpful, however, at the time of our stay there was no restaurant owing to renovations and had to have breakfast (poor selection) in our room with no proper facility to do so. I am sure that when the renovations are complete it will be fine.

In a good position close to the Ferry Terminal and other transport. The rooms appeared to have been renovated recently but our room was small with inadequate cupboards/shelves for two people. There was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the room in spite of a non-smoking policy with a threat of added costs if smoking was detected. At the time of our stay the dining room was closed for renovations. A reasonable continental breakfast was provided on each floor.

Great boutique hotel on the bay and within walking distance of business in the financial district. Morning runs on the Embarcadero; European style breakfast buffet on each floor. Only negative is that the lobby was undergoing renovation. I'm sure rates will go up when they are done.

An $8 cab ride to Chinatown, Union Square. Across the street from the Ferry Building/Farmer's Market. 20-30 minute walk to Pier 39. Hotel is right on the Embarcadero. Room was very small but had nice bedding. There weren't extra pillows so we used the decorative pillows from the window seat under the bed pillows. Breakfast is served on each floor---danishes, muffins, fruit, juice, milk, yogurt. Apples at the front desk. Free paper. Free bottled water every afternoon. Cool, flat screen TV. Helpful, pleasant staff.

The hotel is very good located and we had a very good stay. The rooms look good and are comfortable and clean. If we come back to SFO we will stay at Griffon again.

The highest recommendation I can give for this hotel is that we would stay there again next time we are in San Francisco. My job entails a lot of travel and far too many hotel rooms. The Griffon is different to most cookie cutter hotels and has a homely feel. The service was exemplary, and courteous, and the location was ideal. Just a couple of minutes walk from the main ferry terminal, and one block from the main downtown drag, Market Street.
