A short guide to: Union Square - Convention Center

Flagship stores ring Union Square, among the vanguard of West Coast retail. Chinatown begins at Grant Avenue and Bush Street, while Gold Rush-era mansions crown Nob Hill. South of Union Square, the convention center area includes the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Cable cars turn around at Powell and Market streets to head back to Fisherman’s Wharf.

Good time

Posh hotel, great location near cable car lines. You can enjoy the Top of the Mark dancing on Fri/Sat night then just saunter back to your room!

Worse Place I've Ever Stayed

Hotel is very over priced for what you get. Staff was rude and snobby. Room was tiny and very noisy, all night long. Valet parking staff ruined my battery. I replaced the battery in San Francisco during the stay and they tried to ruin the second battery. Hotel management was a joke, stating the valet parking is an outside vendor, so they couldn't help. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Intercontinental Mark Hopkins Hotel

There was a $50.00 a night parking fee!! Breakfast was $26.00 a person for a buffet and gratuity was added on automatically. The coolest the rooms get is 67 degrees. Internet service is $12.95 a day!! The hotel is beautiful and the views are amazing but the unforeseen costs were outrageous.

Not bad, but there is better

This is a very nice hotel. However, the rooms are small and the bed was very uncomfortable - lumpy. Also, the room is low-tech if that matters to you. Otherwise, it is very clean and well stocked.

An historic landmark

Beautiful property, great views. Acceptable staff. Have weekday breakfast, not Sunday brunch, at the Top of the Mark. Concierge gave good suggestions on sightseeing. Noise of cable cars, at least from 6 stories up, was not a problem.

One of San Francisco's Best Hotels

Was greeted and treated with comfort and quality service from all points of view as a traveler. The hotel is in a very good part of the city convienent to tourist sights to see as well as the cable cars and bus lines. If going without a car this is a very good hotel to stay in. Would recommend this hotel and stay there again.

Intend to return when possible

My visit brought back fond memories of my very first visit to Nob Hill in the 1930's and subsequent visits troughtout the '60s and later. I was able to take my young granddaughters to the "Top of the Mark" What a thrill for and old lady!

Very Good Hotel

Hotel is located on the top of Nob Hill on California and Mason Streets. Trollies are located on Powell which is down the 70degree hill and another trolley which run right past the hotel. The location is clean and free of the homeless. Fairmont hotel is right across the street. The main street which is Powell will take you to Union and Market streets and in the other direction it will take you to Hyde. If you take the trolley on California you can get to China Town. This hotel is very kid friendly ...meaning the staff goes out of their way to make them comfortable. The Concierge will recommend some great restaurants which are not filled with tourists. If it wasn't for the hills I would go back to San Francisco and stay at this hotel without hesitation.
