Arrived at the hotel via BART. Just a short fairly steep walk uphill and you're there. Checking in couldn't have been easier or quicker. Were given a room on the 9th floor as we were offered a choice. Reception couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. The room was very large, with a desk and armchair, coffee maker and minibar, which we used to keep milk cool. Large, beautifully appointed bathroom, with plenty of towels and quirky complimentary toiletries. Spotless throughout and kept so by a very pleasant, efficient and unobtrusive maid service. The turn down service in the evenings is just another nice touch from this hotel. Had breakfast in the hotel a couple of times and the quality was more than adequate in very relaxed surroundings. Had intended staying at the Mark Hopkins, but chose this hotel based on traveller's reviews. How pleased I am we did
"Very good cebtrally based hotel"by L from West Sussex
Stayed for 2 nights at the end of March. Hotel is within easy walking distance of Union Square, China Town and the cable car and is far better value than staying either on Union Squrea or down at the Wharf (I hav estayed in both locations). Good value breakfast close by (2 minute stroll). Will stay here again.
"Wonderful hotel"by Y from Ireland
Myself and my husband stayed here for 5 nights and we were really impressed with this hotel. Check in was quick and easy, the room was spacious and clean. It was in a perfect location, the cable car stop on the corner, and just a short walk down the hill to the city centre. The staff were extremely friendly and always very helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

"Excellent choice - great location"by M from London
The Orchard lived up to previous reviews. Reasonably priced, great location, free wireless and nice room - bathroom products were great too.

Great service, great room, great location. Comfortable bed, good room amenities, there really is nothing negative about the hotel. I would fully recommend this place as a great base for exploring the city.
"First Class Hotel"by I from Nottingham England
We have just returned from a 6 day stay and found the standard of service, cleanliness to be excellent. The room was spacious & well equipped with coffee maker, minibar & free wifi. We were also offered complimentary DVDs from their library. Couldn't fault it for the price.
"Terrific value for money"by J from Wallacestone,Falkirk
For us ,this was a great location. Quiet (room at back)as we asked. Yet near everything. There is a hill coming back from Union Sauare ,but then SF is hilly ,and people should know that if they have done their research! Lovely room ,very comfotable and spacious, great toiletries. Near Chinatown Gate on Grant, from where we walked to North Beach. Cable car at the intersection, can take you out to Fisherman's Wharf. All in all .very highly recommended.
