Would recommend
Excellent location, close to bart station and only 2 blocks from union square. Tram stop outside. Rooms clean and decent size. Swimming pool was an added bonus.

Interesting hotel
The hotel reception area is magnificent and the staff excellent from the concierges, reception to the bell boys. The bedroom we had was a superior with 2 queen beds. The beds and pillows could have been more comfortable. The soundproofing was poor as we could hear the bathromm in adjacent rooms.

Great hotel - but extras expensive
Great room - bottle of water in room for 7$ is expensive and fridge was very noisy. Pool is nice but very shallow.

Discreet elegance and luxury
We came out of Montgomery BART station and immediately saw the gilded doors of the hotel. We walked into an elegantly and luxuriously appointed hallway. My husband looked at me inquisitively and asked, "can we afford this?" In fact we could. The internet only promotional rate for this 5 star hotel was equivalent to that of other 4 star hotels. We were were bathed in luxury.
The service was personal without being invasive. The towels, bathrobes and carpets were thick and luxurious. The rooms were clean and well furnished if a bit on the small side. We were able to rent a Blackberry charger for free at the concierge desk. Our two kids aged 7 and 9 had a great time.
