Description


Location. Built in 1928, the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco, Calif., is one of the city's most revered properties. Positioned on Union Square, this downtown hotel is located within one-half block of many fashionable shopping boutiques, nightclubs and entertainment venues. The business district and Moscone Convention Center are within one-half mile. Chinatown is five blocks away and the Opera House is one mile from this hotel.
Hotel Features. Doormen in full Beefeater regalia offer assistance at this landmark hotel, home to the famous Harry Denton's Starlight Room, a 1930s style nightclub featuring dancing, live entertainment and a 180-degree view of downtown San Francisco. Renovated in 2007, the hotel features Grand chandeliers and pallets of gold, purple and red that welcome guests into the lobby area, complete with plush seating and paintings of Sir Francis Drake. Seared salmon fillets, paper-thin carpaccios and boeuf bourguignons are showcased at Scala's Bistro. The property also features a renovated Starbucks. A winding marble staircase leads to the mezzanine lounge, which overlooks Union Square and the cable cars below. The hotel hosts conference rooms, a business center with three high-speed Internet computer workstations and complimentary wireless Internet access. Guests have access to the fully-equipped fitness center.

Brillant hotel

Hotel was really nice, staff very friendly! Location ideal for everywhere we wanted to go! Would definitely stay there again.

SUPERB LOCATION,GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY,ROOMS VERY CLEAN,THE BED WAS SO COMFORTABLE I WANTED TO BRING IT HOME.I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THIS HOTEL AGAIN WHEN I NEXT VISIT SAN FRANCISCO,STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL ESPECIALLY THE DOOR MEN.

Very nice

Basic rooms with not much of a view...BUT your in the center of San Fran! The hotel is very clean, and has very comfortable beds!!! The hallways look like they should be in the shining, and the reception is amazing!! We would go back in a hartbeat. Highly recommended.

Good location

I thought the hotel was in a great location for access to shops, restaurants etc. The lobby is very impressive and there was a nice buzz although it's way too cold to sit in and enjoy a nice relaxing drink. The room was a disappointment, it was very small which I could just about put up with but the windows were so horribly dirty that it was almost impossible to see if we had a view from the 15th floor. My favourite thing about the hotel which also just about made up for the room disappointment was Harry's bar on the top floor. The most amazing views and ambience, it was one of my overall favourite things about San Fran. Well worth a visit even if you're not a guest at the hotel!

Rather ordinary hotel in San Francisco

Central location good but room rather small and dark. Easy to get around San Francisco from this hotel but note that the cable car which stops at the door is always full by the time it gets to the hotel
