San Francisco is a hilly town, but largely bicycle friendly, and many visitors enjoy riding rented bikes over the Golden Gate Bridge, five miles from the hotel. Guests can return the same way or put their bikes on passenger ferries departing from the town of Sausalito across the bay and travel back by water to the recently restored Ferry Building on the Embarcadero, one mile from the hotel.

see all hotels in Union Square - Convention Center"Old Fashioned Modern Twist"by T from Dublin
What can I say About this hotel, I really Loved the old fashioned feel with the modern Twist. The hotel it self sits on the top of nob hill and the views are amazing, But be warned not for the faint hearted the hills round it are a killer !The lobby is stunning when u walk in and The staff were plesant and helpful. If you intend using the business center or the gym sign up for the presidents club otherwise the gym will cost you $15 per day and it is free to sign up.The fee for the use of the internet is also waived .All in all I Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and those of you who are old enough to remember Hotel with James Brolin ( as i do),will enjoy this hotel as this is where the show was filmed.
"Best hotel at best location in San Francisco"by D from Oxford
We found on arrival that the main restaurant was closed for the duration of our stay for evening meals. We were immediately, without any prompting, offered a room upgrade with spectacular views of the bay. Decent bedroom size, quality bed linen and pillows. Staff were friendly and efficient and attended promptly to needs and queries. Excellent location with easy access to cable cars. No need to have a car. Will definitely use this hotel again on any future visit to San Francisco.
"super hotel BUT very pricey parking"by n from hull, uk
super top quality hotel with service to match and also in a fab location! BUT parking charges are ridiculous, $57 per day (that 2 days per nights stay!) and they do not warn you of this before hand!!
"Impressive!!"by P from South Yorkshire
A quality hotel right on the top of Nob Hill. Cannot fault it. Except it cost $53 a day to park car!! Fabulous meal in Tonga rooms.
"If you can get a good deal definitely book this hotel"by J from Hampshire, UK
Great location, beautiful views of the Bay, lovely big rooms. Would definitely recommend The Fairmont.
"Wish I had enough money to rent the penthouse!"by M from Leeds
We were totally amazed with the Fairmont as soon as we entered the foyer. It was absolutely stunning. The girl who checked us in was also brilliant. She gave us advice on where to go and as it was my girlfriends first visit she put us on floor 21 out of 23 so we had stunning views of the city! This truly is an amaxing hotel. The one downside however was that the bed was too comfortable. Room cleanliness was excellent and you got a paper each morning.
