A short guide to: Old Quebec

With cobblestone walkways and 17th century architecture, Old Quebec comprises the fortified area of Quebec City. The Musee de la Civilisation features exhibits that trace the province's history as a fur-trading colony to present day. Place Royale, the heart of the city in the 17th and 18th centuries, is home to the Eglise Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, the oldest stone church in Québec.

We felt comfortable from the time we entered.

By having our breakfast later in the morning (about 9:00 a.m.) and an early supper (around 3:30-4:30 p.m.) we avoided the busiest restaurant times and felt very satisfied on only two meals per day. Since our hotel provided a very adequate complimentary breakfast, we could spend a little more on a very satisfying dinner, but not damage our budget.

Lovely hotel, great location

Make sure you arrive before 11 pm or call ahead and make arrangements with the hotel for a late arrival. The front door is locked after 11 pm and there will be no one to check you into your room. If you already have room key you use that to get into the hotel after 11.

Good room and good location.

Everything you expect from a hotel - modern clean room with queen bed and all the amenities including a mini-fridge. Rooms facing street are best. St-Anne is a pedestrian-only street and just a short walk to Chateau Frontenac and down the Funicular to the Lower Town. Be aware that if you drive you must pay for parking. Closest parking is at City Hall (few minutes walk).

Wonderful hotel in the historic heart of Quebec City

The two hour historic area bus tour is really worth while in order to get a good orientation on the city and places to walk to from the hotel.

Good

Adequate hotel with great location. The room was clean and a decent size. The front desk was not helpful as they could not understand English which was suprising considering it was a hotel. I knew French was primarily spoken but those in the tourism industry should be able to understand basic requests. There was parking nearby for $14 overnight in a municipal lot. Horse carriage rides run about $80 plus a tip, but are well worth it.

Great week-end in Québec City

Caranaval is an exciting outdoor experience and well worth the visit. Be sure to have lots of warm clothes, and "layer" them if possible. The temperature can change dramatically during the day & night activities. A great time with lots of friendly people- many from Ontario, the East Coast & the US are there to enjoy the winter fun!

Wow - better than I ever thought it would be!

We had read a number of online reviews about this hotel - all positive. It DEFINITELY lived up to our expectations. The shower was indeed fabulous - great water pressure! The bed and pillows were even more comfortable than what I have at home! And the location was absolutely perfect. Easy walking access to just about everything.
