Three interlinked rooms in the hotel's vaulted cellars make up the brassiere- style KN Restaurant. Local specialities and European favourites are on the menu. A superbly located hotel for a short City break

Merchants House is superbly located for a short City break, being two minutes from Tallinn's main square and within a 10 minute walk of other attractions within the Old Town. Our room, overlooking the hotel's courtyard, was quiet and we weren't disturbed at all by any outside street noise. The duration of the taxi ride (organised at our request by the hotel)from the airport was about 20 minutes and cost EEK 300 (about GBP 15), although cheaper options are available. From the moment we arrived (at almost midnight) until our departure we were always greeted warmly and cheerfully. Our enquiries were dealt with quickly, politely and effectively, and offers of assistance were forthcoming without prompting. Little touches included a pot of tea delivered to our room shortly after our late arrival, followed by tea-making facilities for the remainder of our stay. A short telephone call to the UK was treated as "complimentary". The hotel combines mediaeval charm with all mod-cons, including a clean modern bathroom, large walk-in shower and an effective air conditioning unit (necessary during our stay at end June). Visitors should note that, given the building's age, there is no lift, and there are 50 stairs to the top (3rd) floor.

Nice boutique hotel

Although farther from the harbor than anticipated, once arrived, it had a great central location; breakfast (included) was very good; rooms were comfortable and trendy and bathroom was a nice size (although no tub); all of the areas of the hotel are different so a wander through the halls is interesting and there was a nice sitting room nearby

Very pleasant indeed

It's in a great location, just off the main square and is a contemporary and well looked after little hotel. It's modern, clean with very friendly staff and nice breakfasts. It's no design hotel and it isn't ultra-luxurious either, but for the price it makes for a very pleasant stay indeed.

Great City, Superb Hotel

Tallinn not great for vegetarian food, though it is available in some places. Good places to eat - Turg, Mookkala (fab fish restaurant), Grandma's Place, KN Restaurant. Avoid Peppersack and other tourist traps - food rubbish. Great cafe - Kehrwieder - on Town Hall Square, great atmosphere, comfortable & friendly, open till 11pm.

Nice hotel, great location, fine people.

Hotel with nooks and crannies. Very interesting use of an ancient building. Everything works well and the staff make sure you don't mind that there's no lift. Good breakfast with lovely service. Ask for a room off the front street. We got one and it was quiet and comfortable.

a great weekend break

I was very impressed and quite surprised at how much nightlife there is in this beautiful picturesque city. The restaurants we ate at, were all great value for money and the standard of cooking was very high. The club scene is fabulous!

Great location in Tallinn

We had upgraded to an exectutive room. Overall the difference between this and our son's standard room was not huge.
