"Great Hotel pity about the parking"

The Renoir is about 5 mnutes walk from the centre of Cannes. But be warned there is a rather large road (N8) to cross to get there. The Hotel is in a mainly residential area and also, oddly, adjacent to the main Cannes police station. We got a room overlooking the front entrance and the quiet street. The rooms on the other side overlook the main road, so I would hope the double glazing in those rooms is effective at keeping out the noise of the traffic. The hotel is very smart with a tiny and expensive breakfast area. Just around the corner from the hotel was a small bar that served a decent breakfast for 5 .50 euros. Less than half the price and better. The lift in the hotel is minute (maximum of 2 people). Our room was one oof the few rooms that was not a suite and this was perfectly adequate with a great bathroom. Oh yes, nearly forgot. Forget the Hotel's private beach it is 12 euros and you do not even get a towel!!!” 10/06/2009
