Description


Location. The Hotel & Spa Lyon Metropole in Lyon, France, is located directly on the banks of the Saone River. Within five kilometres of the hotel are Place Bellecour, the Rhône and Saône peninsula, Parc de la Tête d'Or, and a variety of museums and historical buildings. Outside of Lyon, small, timeless villages dot the area with medieval hilltop retreats and tranquil valley communities. Roman ruins are found along the Rhône and remains of prehistoric man in the Alps, which themselves provide some of the world's best skiing and hiking, not to mention Western Europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc.
Hotel Features.
The Hotel & Spa Lyon Metropole is famous for housing the largest urban spa in France. Complimentary access is granted to spa facilities, which include an indoor pool, Olympic-sized outdoor pool, sauna, steam room, outdoor whirlpool, and tennis courts. Spa treatment rooms offer massages and skin treatments. The spa's fitness room includes weight machines, free weights and cardio machines. An aerobics studio is adjacent to the fitness room.

Guestrooms. Air-conditioned guestrooms at the Hotel & Spa Lyon Metropole feature views of the pool or river from terraces. Amenities include cable television, direct-dial telephones, safes and minibars. Guestrooms also have private bathrooms.

Expert Tip. Younger children will enjoy the two playrooms in the hotels' spa area.

From Lyon Satolas Airport:
Approximate distance is 25 kilometres.
Take the A43 toward Lyon.
Follow signs for the Croix Rousse Tunnel onto the N6/ N7.
After the tunnel, take the first right turn which will bring you to the hotel.

Hotel poor, spa good

Don't get a taxi from the airport to the hotel - very expensive (EUR60+). Get the transfer shuttle to the SNCF train station, then get a taxi. All in all taxis are very expensive (EUR20 to the centre from the hotel). I wish I'd hired a car!

Found a great halal pakistani restaurant in Lyon. New Delhi Restaurant 5 Avenue Du Doyenne 69005

A pleasant location with lovely views overlooking the river

By getting the coach from the airport to Perrache Station (8.60 euros / £6) and then a one day liberte card (£3 or 4.40 euros) for the local metro, tram, bus services, you made an enormous saving rather than opting for a taxi at 50 euros to the Metropole hotel.

It's Better days are gone, but....

It's clean, it's big. The restuarant "La Plage" is actually quite good. It's not a destination hotel in my opinion, but if you need to land somewhere in Lyon (if there is a train strike for example...) then, this is a viable option for the luxury conscious traveler.

A fine hotel

Right across the river is a restaurant that serves food based on Paul Bocuse recipes. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The restaurant is spacious and well lighted and there is ample parking.
