The rooms are a triumph of style over functionality. The bathrooms have wooden sinks - but no plugs, thus wasting water and making shaving difficult. There is also a strong risk of uncleanliness should the thin veneer on the sink crack. A hand held shower head is also very annoying. Staff say - remarkably - customers used to pull fixed shower head out of the wall, which I do not believe. So, the bathrooms need to be completely refurbished.
"Feels like a Motel"by M from Preston, UK
Nice entrance and internal courtyard, but hallways and rooms need new carpets and decoration generally. If room is at rear of hotel the opposite flats will look straight into your bedroom, and there were no net curtains in ours!!
"Nicely in Nimes"by j from Ireland
We were impressed by New Hotel La Baume Nimes, we were sorry we didn't book a second night in our tour of Roman France. A hotel of great character, minutes from main attractions of the city. The staff were very courteous and helpful.there were numerous good restaurants closeby.
"Small Comfort"by D from Cheshire
Internally the hotel is pretty, unlike the external fascia. The service was good & helpul & all spoke good English. The room although always clean, tidy & well serviced was very small. We didn't eat there, but had some drinks from the bar, which were very expensive - 10 euros for 2 small beers & 3.5 euros for a cup pf tea.
"Well Hidden Oasis"by D from Formby Nr Liverpool
Despite being situated in a rather grotty side street the hotel is full of character and stylishly designed and furnished. The central courtyard and external stone staircase add to the ancient feel of the place. Possibly in need of 'refreshing' in places. Despite being very near the city center our room at the rear of the building was exceptionally quiet. No views to speak of from any of the windows. Breakfast area good and some choice of food. Good value for E10
"great location"by s from nottingham
the hotel once inside is just as described downstairs, however the bedrooms totally let it down, look like they belong to a differenr place, basic to say the least, awful decor and what resembles an office filing cabinet and desk in ours. breakfast is overpriced at 7 euros for just rolls and jam, other items are all 3 euros extra, no hot food, limited choice, supposed to have room service, but some nights only 1 person on who couldnt leave reception, the courtyard is its best feature and it is a pitty the did not spend more money refurbishing the bedrooms and bathrooms
"Nimes' best-kept secret!"by N from London
The facade of this eclectic boutique hotel, which is very centrally located, belies the charm within. You are very pleasantly surprised when you enter the main doors - a colourful, rustic interior greets you and a moroccan-style courtyard filled with natural light can be seen within. The staircase is amazing!!! The rooms are a little disappointing after the main reception area, but they are well furnished and clean.
"Very pleasant stay in a beautful city"by L from London
New Hotal La Baume is a comfortable and clean hotel in the heart of the beautfiul city of Nimes. It's perfect for exploring the city's attractions and there are plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance.
"Excellent position"by D from London
The NHLB is well placed in the heart of Nimes, a lovely city, much smaller and quieter than nearby Avignon but neverthelkess plenty of attractions. If you like old buildings and a sense of history this is th eplace for you. Staff very pleasant and helpful. I' sure the breakfast was fine but we preferred to take it in the Place Belle Croix just a stone's throw away. The "wooden" handbasins are a delight but not so keen on the "no-plugs" idea - so wasteful! At the price, this is an excellent hotel and we would certainly use it again if in Nimes.
