Our family were visiting our student son for a few days who lives nearby, so we needed something in that area and reasonably priced. We had a double room and a twin. Both were comfortable if a little cramped, but clean and with good bathrooms. The breakfast offered a wide choice and was perfectly acceptable. All staff members were very helpful. Walls were a bit thin maybe, and not the quietest of places, but its a busy cheap hotel. This area is becoming more popular with some interesting cafes and restaurants. See Le Pure Cafe nearby on Rue Jean Mace. A beautiful interior and real Parisian feel, it was used as a location in the film Before Sunset. Assuming you wont be spending too long in the rooms and just need a comfortable place for the night after an exhausting day site-seeing this is a good choice.

The hotel Bastille Charonne is good value for money, there is no question about that. The highlight was the breakfast buffet. You can fill yourself up on fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals and croissants and it'll keep you going for most of day. the room was too small and we had the unfortunate room which was next to the hotel sign. The result was that it was lighter in our room at two in the morning than when they switched it off at breakfast time. It is okay for a night but not if you're intending to take a romantic break or stay longer. It is a comfortable base for sightseeing only as its location to city centre is excellent.

I found it casually on the web, in consideration of price, position and reviews I found on a couple of websites. It was a sudden two-night break to meet friends in Paris, and I wanted to find something cheap&clean. This two-star hotel is definitely better than most of the three-stars I have tried in Paris the last couple of years. Clean room and bathroom, all recently refurbished; nice usable reception and breakfast room; friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast (although replacing the pile of ham with cheese would be an improvement). The closest Metro stop is Charonne. If you have big luggage with you is quite a walk from Bastille. If you don't mind walking 15/20', you are within reach for Marais, Bastille, Nation and more. I'm definitely passing their address to friends, and I'll go again.

Good value for money in an expensive city. Convenient location as close to tube and the Bastille. The area is trendy with good bars with mainly local people rather than tourists. Not ideal for a romantic getaway but perfect for a value for money getaway. The reception staff were very helpful.

Clean rooms and loos, quick service and great connectovity to the main Tourists pots...The Goods! Also the concierge was mostly helpful and english speaking! Very small TV with limited english channels(CNN) makes you feel cut off, no provision of international adaptors and not enough variety in the breakfast buffett!! - the Average!

nice hotel, excellent location, this the place to stay if do not want to spend fortune and see Paris. Room was very small but clean, the place where you can peacefully sleep after day out. Most of the rooms face backyard, so it very quiet, airconditioner was working well, bathroom clean, what else do you need? After ample buffet breakfast with different choice I was full up until late afternoon. Go there, never mind size of the room!!!
