Buy a museum pass and you won't have to wait in any lines! Except for the Towers of Notre Dame.

You are a 5 minute walk from Printemps and Galeries Lafayette. They are excellent for shopping and eating. Try Maxim's for a light lunch or afternoon tea.

Lovely hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. Room clean and very pleasant except that the bathroom has no ventilation. If leaving the windows open at night the noise from the traffic on l'Avenue Opera can interfere with sleep but with the windows closed it's fine.

If arriving by air at Charles de Gaulle airport, take the Roissybus (regular services) which departs from outside the terminal building and stops at l'Opera which is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel. A huge saving over exorbitant taxi or minibus fares and it only takes 45-50 minutes!

Try the "Au petit theatre" restaurant, two short blocks from the hotel at the Saint-Honore Market Square (Marche Saint Honore) -- fun decor (pigs theme), good food with an accent on pork. The Barlotti (sp? ask at the desk) Italian restaurant, on the nearer side of the market square, is also very good.

This hotel is perfect for the airport Rosibus. It's less than 5 minutes from the Opera stop. I would definitley get the bus, its far far cheaper than a taxi and much nicer than teh RER/metro

We used the Metro for all of our traveling around the city and to the airport. It was quick, inexpensive compared to cabs, and easy to use once you got the hang of it. It's a bit like a maze, so it's worth planning out your day in advance. There's a good grocery store, Monoprix, right down Ave. de L'Opera. It's within walking distance of the hotel and has a good selection of food, wine, cheese, etc.

The internet at this hotel is quite expensive. Instead of buying the one or two day pass, which was very expensive, get the few hour pass (anywhere between 1 and 5 I think), and then just log in and log out each time you use it. You don't have to use it all at once and it lasts for your whole stay. You'd be surprised how little time you actually needed to check your email, and it will save you between 15 and 30 Euro.
