Description


The Sofitel Paris La Defense Centre is a contemporary eight-floor hotel built in 1987, situated in the business district of La Defense, ten kilometres from the historic city centre. The 151 guestrooms feature muted decor and ontemporary furnishings, and are equipped with satellite television with pay movies, multi-line phones and dial-up and wireless high-speed Internet connections. Other amenities include coffee and tea-makers, minibars, safes and complimentary newspapers. Bathrooms come with shower/tub combinations, bathrobes, slippers, telephones and designer toiletries.
Fitness enthusiasts can tone up in the onsite gym, which is equipped with cardio-vascular and resistance machines. The Italian Lounge serves authentic Italian dishes in a modern setting beneath a glass roof, complete with a piano bar, while La Tavola offers modern Italian cooking and opens onto a terrace for outdoor dining. Guests can stay connected via complimentary dial-up and wireless Internet access, and newspapers are available free of charge in the lobby. Copying, printing and fax facilities are available in the business centre, and the hotel houses five meeting rooms with audio-visual equipment and a maximum capacity of 100. Multilingual staff at the 24- hour front desk are on hand to provide around-the- clock room service, exchange currency and store valuables in the safe-deposit box. Those arriving by car can make use of the secure valet-parking service. The 17th-century Château de Rueil-Malmaison, the former home of Napoleon and Josephine, and the Local History Museum are both three kilometres from the hotel. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport is 35 kilometres from the hotel, with an approximate driving time of 40 minutes.

Directions

A taxi to the city centre will take around 45 minutes; a typical fare to the hotel is around 50 EUR. Roissybus serves all three terminals and runs to the rue Scribe for Métro Opéra. The easiest way to get around Paris is via the fast, cheap and reliable Metro service.

The hotel has a cardboard shoe hanging in the closet - which contains running maps and distances.

Good Room, Good Service, Good Location

Be sure to get a weekly "Carte Orange" for unlimited Metro and bus acess, even if you are there for less than a week. It provides a sense of freedom of movement and exploration not possible otherwise. Jumping on and off the Metro and bus to simply see what's there at any time is an incomparable way to see the city.

Good Business Hotel

This Sofitel is a chic and very comfortable addition to the chain. Whilst it is quite a feat to find this hotel by car (taxi drivers seemingly had no clue where it was), the access to the metro could not be simpler. Clearly you could stay nearer the hub of things in a lesser hotel for the same price, but if you want some comfort and don't think 15 mins on the metro is a big deal (it isn't) then stay here in some style.

A good hotel, but this is not Paris.

The hotel itself posebe good. Amenities simply magnificent bed, a different bathroom. The main disadvantage of a hotel - is that there is not that you are in Paris.

Good hotel but not in the tourism area

Good hotel. New, clean, the condition is very good. It is close to the Metro and RER, however, it takes some time for me to find it. The service is good. Staff is helpful.
