Description


Location. The modern Grand Elysee Hamburg, located within a kilometre of the Town Hall Square and congress centre in Hamburg, is a popular meeting place for business professionals, holidaymakers and locals alike, nine kilometres from the airport.
Hotel Features. Renovation and expansion in 2006 has turned the hotel into a bustling locale. The spacious lobby, with its Boulevard Café, has the atmosphere of a busy street and is frequented by locals as well as guests. There are also several restaurants - from French to Italian.
Guests enjoy complimentary access to the 1,000 square metre Elyseum wellness area, which includes three saunas, a steam room, massage services, fitness equipment, solarium, spa treatments, 14 metre pool, hot tub and cold plunge bath.
The Elysee Hotel Hamburg has a relaxation area and opens onto a summer terrace, while the poolside bar serves five-element wellness cuisine.
Alster Lake in Hamburg is 500 metres from the hotel and offers plenty of walking, running and boating opportunities while the Planten un Blomen, the city centre's main park, has walking trails, a rose garden, a Japanese garden and a greenhouse.
Guestrooms. The hotel has 511 air-conditioned guestrooms over six floors, all of which have decor in soft, warm colours and pictures by renowned artists on the walls. Beds have chamber-coil mattresses, down duvets and four pillows. Other amenities include minibars, safes, wireless Internet access (surcharge) and cable television. Marble-floored bathrooms come with handheld showers, bathrobes and slippers.
Expert Tip. A 1.5 kilometre walk from the Elysee Hotel Hamburg is Neuer Wall in Hamburg, an upmarket shopping street that has flagship stores for the world's leading brands in fashion and accessories. People come from all over the country to window-shop along the famous street, where names include Armani, Joop, Bulgari, Cartier, Hermes, Louis Vuitton and more.

Directions

Getting there: Taxi services to the hotel take approximately 30 minutes and cost around 25 EUR. Airport Express runs bus services to Hamburg central station every 15 minutes from Terminals 1 and 2; tickets cost €5 one way and the trip takes 25 minutes. Bus 110 connects the terminals with the nearby Ohlsdorf U-Bahn/S-Bahn station every ten minutes, then take the U1 (blue line) to U-Bahn station Stephansplatz; tickets cost 2.40 EUR and can be bought from the bus driver. All prices are subject to change.

Driving directions: From Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel Airport, take Flughafenstrasse, then turn right onto Alsterkrugchaussee, also called highway B433. Go about four kilometres and then take Rosenbrook (still B433) for 350 metres. Turn left onto Tarpenbekstrasse and continue along Lenhartzstrasse and then Eppendorfer Baum. Turn right onto Klosterstern and take the second exit at the roundabout for Rothenbaumchaussee.

Will definitely go back

This hotel exceeded my expectations. It is definitely worthy of its 5 star status. The rooms are superb, quiet, clean and comfortable and I had a great view for the veranda window over the University buildings and gardens.

Great location

This hotel an unexpected and wonderful find. Last year I stayed at the Intercontinental, it was much more expensive and no nicer. The breakfast is great and (for Europe) pretty reasonable. The location is great too. A really nice neighborhood and close to the Hamburg Messe.

Can't wait to go back

Take the Taxi back to airport from hotel as the price for 2 on public transport is the same. Cost of snacks and meals in the resturant are the same as in the town centre, but with a 5 star service at the hotel.

Fancy hotel

Dine-in bakeries are easy to find and serve fabulous pastries, soft pretzels, and sandwiches. Some serve scrambled eggs in the a.m. Generally, there are no free refills on coffee anywhere. For lazy breakfasts, we kept pastries in the room and ordered coffee from room service---the hotel delivers a thermos!!!
