Really Good Hotel. Very close to Reeperbaum. Very comfortable.

I tried to learn a little German before I went - which (even though I only knew about 20/30 basic words) came in helpful. But the best tip, is to take the underground trains. They are very cheap and you can access every part of Hamburg. If you don't like one part, jump back on and explore somewhere else. :-)

You get what you pay for

For the money I paid I did not expect much. Yet I found my single room too small. The hotel overall was OK. Standard rooms, standard breakfast. Clean rooms despite quite shabby furniture. Bottom line: you get what you pay for.

Good location for Holstenwall

Dress warm as Hamburg gets pretty cold in the Autumn. There's an excellent flee market open on Sarturdays near the Augusten-passage behind the Neuer-Kamp. I bought a thick, hooded winter anorak for 10euros.

fair value for the money

I would rate this hotel a shade under 3 stars. Lobby area and restaurant were nice. My room was very small and spare, but clean. I liked the location, across the street from the very cool Hamburg History Museum and a couple of blocks from St. Michael's church. Staying in this part of town gets you away from the main railway station, which you'll likely spend a lot of time around anyway.
