All rooms include"reasonable for its price"by b from london
this is a very old hotel in the best possible location. there is a strike of some of its workers (who stage a silent protest everyday in front of the hotel) which is slightly disconcerting. the stay was pretty comfortable though - and the prices are very reasonable for this location.
"exellent value for money"by V from London
A little faded but a lovely example of a great hotel. The rooms are large, very big, comfortable beds but the bathroom is small, insufficient lighting and no hand towel rail. The breakfast should be avoided. Wonderful position near lake and near the museums. Very good value for money.
"In need of improvement"by M from London
Cheap, old and feeling a bit un-loved. Needs an update. Most sadly people were protesting outside due to it being the last hotel in the city to have staggeringly low wages for menial staff (making it hard for them to survive on one job alone). Very sad. I would say don't support this place on that point alone - pay a few more bucks and don't have someone's poverty on your conscience.
"Impressive former deluxe hotel great location"by C from Northern Ireland
A great place to stay, right in the center next to the parks and museums. It is a former 5-star old world charme hotel that needs some attention and is being renovated. Rooms are small but ok, great lobby with marble walls and magnificent conference hall. The only gripe I have are the staff at the reception. They could have been trained by east German bureaucrats, very unhelpful and clearly could not give a f**k about their customers. When you ring them keep that in mind. They told me they could not help me, but when I kept asking they were quite able to book an additional night. Just keep asking what the options are, and they might suddenly come up with a very obvious solution... The millenium park is just opposite, with live music and exceptional flower gardens. The Field museum, observatorium, and modern art museum is very close.
"Central Hotel with a sense of history"by M from Ashford, Kent
Old hotel with a little character compared to many new modern hotels. Parking was in a lot next to the hotel and was $24 a day to hotel residents. Something to budget for. Parking was safe & secure. In some areas the building did show it's age. The fitness room was small but adequate for a small workout. Hotel accepted packages that were delivered to me for a small charge. Nice area looking over towards Millennium Park. Downtown dinning and entertainment was a 5min taxi journey ($10) or 25min walk. Park opposite hotel felt quite safe to walk around in the evening, plenty of people around.
"Would stay again"by A from Cornwall
An excellent location. We had views of Michigan lake from our room window. Felt very luxurious for us on a budget. Easy access to the underground and elevated railways and buses.
