"Great location but not most luxurious room"by K from London
This is an excellent hotel for those in Chicago for business and pleasure, there are restaurants and bars on site but the room was rather tired feeling and the bathroom could certainly do with replacing
"Great location for just about everything"by R from London
I was meeting a few friends who went to the same school as me (some 40 years ago) to stay for a long weekend. Proximity to good bars and restaurants was a major criterion and the Near North /River North location of the hotel is ideal. It was also close to the river and the weather was so good we took the riverboat architectural trip, a perfect way to view the city's fantastic buildings. It's also close enough to both the orange and blue line stations to make the CTA a good way to travel in from Midway or O'Hare. The beds in the hotel are very comfortable and the large widescreen HD TV and free WiFi were welcome, as was the ability to print out boarding passes from any one of three PCs in the lobby. No coffee-making facilities in the room, but free coffee and tea was available until 9am in the lobby. The Crimson Lounge bar is very attractive (as is the check-in desk) but later in the evenings it can get a little noisy for oldies like us. If I come back to Chicago I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again.
"Making a cup of coffee!"by B from Limerick, Ireland.
The hotel was fine but a kettle in the room would have made a big difference to me as I have everything with me to make coffee. Also I had to ask at reception for a local map as they were not displayed for free.
"Excellent position for shopinh eating and entertainment"by L from Plymouth Devon
This is a lovely hotel. It is within walking distance to all the great shops on Michigan avenue, some fantastic restaurants and at least two good clubs and bars.
"Great Hotel Just avoid the Crimson Lounge"by J from Dublin.
This hotel is great. Close to State St, Mag Mile and of course the House Of Blues. The rooms are great with a very comfy bed and a big wall mounted tv with a large selection of channels. The bathrooms are clean. Room service was great. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and the lads at the front door are polite & helpful. There is plenty of Taxis when needed. Its a terrible shame I can not be so positive about the Crimson Lounge. We went in to beat Jet Lag. We found a cosy spot in the back and ordered a few drinks. After 30 mins we where asked to move cause someone had reserved the area that we where seating in. The bouncer was very rude and I asked where was the reserved sign(There was none) cause now there where no more seats left to seat at. My wife and I and another couple were simple told to get up with our drinks and move. We got another table right at the front door and again the hostess came over and placed a sign on the table stating something about bottle service table only. We had to ask her twice to explain what this meant and she was very rude both times. She stated she'd sell this table last and sure by then we'd be fed up with the place. Talk about being made feel very unwelcomed, even after telling her we where guest of the hotel. She did'nt care. AVOID this bar. I mentioned it upon check out. Was told I'd be looked after on the next visit. Like that's going to be remembered.
"A Pleasant Surprise"by m from London
Having had an indifferent experience at another nearby Chicago hotel, my partner and I were apprehensive when checking into the Hotel Sax for our final few days in the city. We need not have worried. The foyer was welcoming and the hotel staff friendly and helpful without exception. Our room was clean, light and spacious. The hotel also enjoys a very good location. We would have no hesitation staying there again.
