tidy and comfortable

Overall, a more than adequate hotel. The room is clean, tidy and comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities, Steam Iron and Ironing Board, Free Wi-Fi and complimentary bath robes just a few of its plus points. Located app 20 mins walk from the city centre Grand Canal hotel is easily accessible for any type of visitor. The DART station (train) is just across the road and the docks are also very close though you wouldn’t know it. The staff were friendly and helpful including those working in the attached ‘GASWORKS’ bar/restaurant. I can definitely say I have stayed in worse places eg Travelodge, premier inn etc. If I were to visit Dublin again I would certainly consider this hotel.

good value

Basic modern hotel to South-East of city centre. Very convenient for the Aircoach from the airport--(explicit instructions on hotel's website, including map). Short walk to city centre, as stated, though probably wouldn't want to do this in the dark, so something to consider if you are planning to savour the city centre nightlife. Very convenient for the D.A.R.T., as the station is just across the road, so trips up and down the coast possible very easily and cheaply.. the hotel bar had a nice atmosphere, helpful staff and the food was good and reasonably priced. There are a few cafes nearby for breakfast if you prefer to get out, and large Spar within about 200m for basics. Our only negative comment would be that if you get a room at the front of the hotel, as we did, the road noise can be annoying.

Grand Canal Hotel Dublin

Arrived at the hotel to find we had been given a twin room, asked if they had a double and they upgraded us to a double exec room. The room was very clean - not the most inspiring view, but the amenities made up for that. We were pleased to find that the hotel was only 15 mins walk from Grafton Street and the centre, and also recommend the Canal Cafe for breakfast - which is about 300 yards along the road from the hotel on the way into town (if like us you got room only). Would recommend the hotel - the staff were friendly and helpful - we had a room service meal and it was very nice, and the room was serviced every day.

Fabulous hotel - great staff

My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay at the Grand Canal and everything about the hotel was superb. The staff were very attentive and the hotel room was comfortable and everything we required. The hotel is situated 15-20 min. walk from the main shopping area of Dublin and there is also a local bus service a five minute walk from the hotel which offers a frequent service to and from the centre. The local area around the hotel also has pubs and restaurants to offer. A super hotel, excellent staff, lovely location.

Great value for money can't wait to go back

Lovely friendly staff, very helpful. Very clean hotel, only a 10 minute pleasant walk from city centre. Large bar and eating area to the left, again very clean. The menu looked good although we didn't eat there. Would definately recommend, great value, we will sure be staying there again!

Excellent customer service

I really enjoyed my stay at the Grand Canal Hotel in Dublin. The service was excellent by all staff members. The Gasworks Bar is a great place to chill out, and we were even offered sandwiches for lunch, while they werent serving food. The room was very comfortable and quite spacious and the bathroom was excellent and very clean. There is a delicious thai restaurant near O'Connell street called Thai Orchid that you must check out!

Irish Hotel or Eastern European Hotel

The Grand Hotel is a little out of the centre of Dublin if you are not fit. However we did enjoy the walk every morning down to the Harbour for breakfast as we thouht we had booked B & B and was not advised on check in that we had not. It would have been nice to be greeted by some Irish staff! If we had wanted to travel to Eastern Europe we would have done so!

Great Hotel - but a bit of a walk!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 days on a short break. We arrived very early, and the staff on reception were very welcoming and we were able to book in straight away. The room was large, very comfortable and well equipped. The only downside was the walk into Dublin which took us nearly half an hour - the hotel suggests it is 15 minutes away from the city centre but this must be for very brisk walkers. You could get a taxi but if cost is an issue (it was for us) you will need to be prepared to walk.

Lovely hotel in lovely location

This is a great hotel. Very well priced. Nice reception area and rooms. Spotlessly clean. Corridors well maintained. Nice friendly reception staff who are always willing to help. About 15 mins walk from city centre through lovely area. Bus stop very close by and takes about 5 mins to get into city centre. Buses are every 10 mins. Train station just across the road. Trains very frequent too. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
