If travelling by car and want to pick up last minute goods to bring back, there is a large supermarket on the road from Menaggio to the Swiss boarder.

For me the best thing about this hotel was the location. Views of bellagio whilst having breakfast were for me a real highlight. The centre part of the lake is the most beautiful part of lake como, and so this hotel is in the ideal location. Most of the guests were middle-aged to elderly, and I was one of the few young ones. This did not put me off at all.

THIS HOTEL WAS PROBABLY BEAUTIFUL IN ITS INFANCY. HOWEVER, THE HOTEL HAS NOT BEEN MAINTAINED, THE TV IS RIDICULOUSLY SMALL & HIGH. THE ROOM WAS SERVICE CLEAN, BUT NOT TRULY CLEAN & THE PAINT ALL OVER THE HOTEL NEEDED TO BE PAINTED. ALSO, MOST OF THE WOODWORK WAS CHIPPED OR COMING AWAY FROM THE WALL.

Very good location. Good breakfast.Hotel gets packed with tour groups. You may not get the bed you asked for. We paid for a large family room but were put in a regular room with a rollaway.

The 10 euro day pass on the local ferries is good value and allows easy access to Bellagio, Ravenna and Menaggio.

For the best restaurant on the Lake - get a ferry to Bellagio turn right follow signs for Albergo Silvio (it's about 1 mile up a hill). We went for Sunday lunch & we were the only English people, it was absolutely packed! We should have booked but they managed to squeeze us in. You ordered like the locals and had 4 courses and coffee, we had fresh fish from the lake that morning and it was outstanding. Truly a dining experience - give it a go!

We had a lake view room and the view was quite breathtaking over lake como. The hotel was fine, quiet, clean and the staff were friendly. The problem was that the hotel is a bit faded and passed its best, rooms and public areas a bit drab. It did not have a real luxury feel , lots of elderly coach parties. Overall hotel ok, location and views amazing.

Most of the hotels did not offer an iron, so I had to pay about $25.00 American to have two blouses and a skirt ironed (not washed, just ironed). An iron with a power converter will save you a great deal of money.

Try the hotel dinner at least once then on to the numerous places on both sides of the lake for further enjoyment. Recommend a short walk for dinner at Trattoria Del Prato in Tremezzo and the Carillon as you get off the ferry in Bellagio.
