The world’s smallest country, Vatican City is dominated by St Peter’s, Christendom’s largest church. Michelangelo’s humbling ‘Pietà’ and his Sistine Chapel ceiling frescos are among the world’s greatest works of art. The Aurelio area is named after the ancient Via Aurelia, the main road that connected Rome with Spain, and is convenient for visiting the city’s sights.

In general the hotel room was in good condition. Sleeping without ear plugs or MP3 player was barely possible, for you could hear every move of your neighbours next door and above...
"Apartment Style Hotel Close to Vatican"by B from Iver
Located on a quiet residential road 5mins walk from the Vatican, this hotel was a good base for exploring the city. There is no breakfast or catering on site and reception is not 24hrs, however our room was set up with a small kitchen and good size fridge and dining table so we bought our own breakfast things from a local deli. There is a lovely roof terrace so buy a local bottle of wine, sit back and enjoy the view of St Peters. Avoid the nearby Rex's restaurant, it is an over priced tourist trap. I would recommend getting a cab from the main station to the hotel for less than 10 euros as it is a bit of a walk from the metro with heavy bags especially in the September heat.
