The shopping near the hotel is more reasonable than the other end by St. Marco's Square. But be sure to wear very comfortable shoes when walking around Venice: the cobblestone tiles are uneven slightly and can wear on your feet unless you have tennis shoe type comfort.

Being just around the corner from the train station you can find this hotel quickly. We so many people wandering around Venice w/ their luggage & directions frantically looking for their accommodations. We felt fortunate with our choice. And with the really nice breakfast they serve, families are off to a terrific start!

Hotel is next to train station-very convenient and easy with luggage! Travel to main attractions really doesn't take long. The concierge is very friendly and nice. Buffet breakfast is very good. The rooms are very small, however, just enough room to walk. This is probably true of most Venice hotels, though. The bath is attractive, but the floor and shower could use a little extra scrubbing. Over all, a nice place to stay.

Nice hotel with lots of character well located near Ferrovia (station) but in a small sidestreet so quiet at night Rooms very clean and hotel well maintained - staff pleasant and helpful Breakfast fairly basic but fine with good coffee Church bells wake you just after 7 each morning and an hour later - go on for about 5 minutes but apart from this I would fully recommend it

Eight of us had a girls weekend in Venice 6 to 9 June 2008 and it was made all the more special by our stay at the Abbazia. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. A few of us had been to Venice a few times before and felt that the Abbazia hotel is the best Venetian hotel we've stayed in to date.

Many nights of the year you can hear a fantastic concert at the church of San Vidal by a group called Interpreti Veneziani. They are fabulous! The staff at the hotel can arrange tickets. Get a good map and make a real adventure out of the evening by walking over to the church from your hotel. Take the vaporetto back to the hotel since it is hard to see street markings after dark.

Walk to local attractions: even San Marco is only about a 25 min stroll through the back streets of the old city!
