A short guide to: Viareggio
This classic seaside resort on Tuscany’s Riviera della Versilia is still a fashionable watering hole with lively clubs and cafés. Viareggio enjoyed its heyday during the 1920s, when the ornate Liberty- style (Art Nouveau) villas sprang up along its palm-lined promenade and the grid of streets behind. Broad, dune-backed beaches, a harbour filled with fishing boats and luxury yachts, and its flamboyant Shrovetide carnival attract the crowds.

Air conditioner problem
Well, it was just one room, for two nights. But the AC leaked, big puddle on the floor, so first night they asked us not to use it. Hot, windows open, streetlight outside. Second night, provided a wastebasket to catch the drips (drip, drip). Hotel isn't as nice as website makes it look, pretty ordinary decor and not facing the waterfront (half block off). Convenient to the Puccini festival, though.

Not a 4* Hotel
* breakfast terrible.( and I am not the least bit fussy about food). Limited choice and same everyday. Fruit juice watered down. The limited selection was not replenished so when it is gone it is gone! * No proper glasses in room for use just plastic cups which were not replaced.

Would Use Again
The hotel is about a mile to a mile and a half from the train station but if your luggage is not too heavy, the journey can be made pleasant by walking through the pine woods. to reach the wood, turn right out of the hotel.

Pleasant and helpful staff
Hotel well postioned near the sea front. Quite a walk to the bus or train station, however regular buses leave approx every 15mins for only E0.90. Rooms at front of hotel definately better than those at the rear.
