The room and the hotel were quite standard. The breakfast,included, made this deal very good value. This place is too far to walk to the Central Station or other places you'd want to see. However, the No.2 tram goes past the hotel and takes you to the center in 20 minutes so if you don't mind the commute then the quiet location is OK.

to get into center take the number 2 tram which you can get on if you just walk right out of the hotel and carry on down to the end of the road for about 3 mins and then you can get a ticket to dam which will take you to center

go to central station when you arrive and buy a tram pass for the duration of your stay as it gives you unlimited travel, whereas the tickets you have to get stamped. and its so much cheaper.

We were told to get an "I Amsterdam" pass(about $60) for the 2 extra days we stayed after a cruise. We had free local transportation and free admission into many major museums. Also included are discount coupons for restaurants and other activities. Our hotel had a rack filled with credit card-sized coupons for many activities and restaurants, including 5% off the pass we had already bought at the visitor center opposite the Central Station (where you get trains, trams and buses.)

The word hotel should not be used to describe this abode - in fact I have stayed in better student hostels than this!! The family room that we were allocated was cramped, damp and very uninviting. The bathroom was smelly - I think it was the drains!! We spent as much time away from the room as possible - in fact I was dreading going back to the room after the first day because it was so bad. The staff were rude and very unhelpful. We spoke to other hotel clients and they all felt the same. Unfortunately it was Easter weekend and there were no vacancies at other hotels in the city - otherwise we would have checked out after one day. A truly awful hotel!!

Apple Inn was fine for us, you get what you pay for. The room was adequately clean and comfortable although very cold on arrival, this was soon sorted as we turned the rad right up. The room was secure with a card key but no safe. Breakfast was the typical continental selection of cheeses and hams, breads and cereals. The hotel is on the Tram line (No. 2) which takes you to central station thru Leidseplein and Dam at E1.60 per fare giving you 2 journeys in the hour on any tram or E7.00 for a 24 hr ticket with unlimited use. All in all, great place for a short break.
