Dikker And Thijs Fenice Hotel Museum Quarter

A short guide to Museum Quarter

Home to Amsterdam’s big three museums, the Museum Quarter includes the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk. The former is the huge national art collection. The Stedelijk is largely cutting-edge post-1945 art. The Van Gogh is home to 200 of the artist’s paintings. Nearby Leidseplein is the centre of Amsterdam’s more raucous nightlife, with famous clubs such as Paradiso and Melkweg. By day, visit the Art Deco Café Americain.

"In a lovely area of Amsterdam"  by J from Durham

Lovely hotel in the Leidseplein area of Amsterdam, with a selection of bars and places to eat nearby and many high street shops on the doorstep. My partner and I stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of May 2009. Be sure to request a room with canal view. We were in room 307 and had a lovely view. The room was a decent size and no noise from other rooms could be heard. The staff on reception were very friendly and it was manned around clock. Unfortunately, we did not have breakfast included in the cost of our stay, so cannot comment on this. The price per night was average for a stay in Amsterdam, as hotels in the city are not cheap. There is a tram stop right outside of the hotel which is very handy, but walking to places such as Dam Square and Vondelpark is easy enough and takes around 10-15 mins. All in all a great stay and would definitely recommend to those looking for a comfortable stay in one of the nicest areas of Amsterdam.

"Lovely place just out of the centre"  by I from Brighton

Highly recommended though make the short walk into town to avoid the high prices they charge in the bar and restaurant.

"Perfect Choice"  by G from London

Great Location, very central but in a quite street. Perfect for exploring all areas of Amsterdam. You may be it a bit apprehensive as you go up to your room as the corridors are a bit old and shabby, but the rooms arent. Really nice and spacious and such comfy beds! And we had beautiful a view over Prinsengracht canal.
