    Galerij Hotel Canal Loop

A short guide to Canal Loop

The classic Amsterdam image of stately canals, the Canal Loop is principally the Herengracht and Keizersgracht, lined with gracious tall 17th and 18th-century houses. Some of these are now museums, most notably the eccentric Kattenkabinet. The Amstel is a more down-to-earth waterway, lined with houseboats and famous for its classic much–photographed Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). The floating Flower Market is also a much-loved canal feature.

Not a bad hotel for the price compared to other places in Amsterdam. the room was ok, it had a double bed and a shower room, but had no toilet in the room which is not ideal..... or uncommon in Amsterdam. The staff were helpful and friendly and the location is good too, just 5 minutes from the dam square. by no means is this the Ritz but if you want a basic, reasonably priced place in the city center this is fine, however i would not recomend it for couples seeking a romantic break or families as it is very basic.

I've never seen anything that bad, ever and I've stayed in crap student accomodation. It was FILTHY, it wouldn't sit on the bed with clothes on. Awful. We checked out as soon as we checked in.

"nothing like discription"  by r from hull

the rooms where nothing like in the discription, one of the rooms had a matreess on the floor! it stated full breakfast but when went for breakfast all we were offered was bread and cheese now i don't know where people are from but where we come from a full breakfast is not bread and cheese! the only redeming feature of the hotel was the freindliness of the staff if it wasn't for them the hotel would have recived a zero rating!

"'Worst Hotel in Europe'"  by A from Hartlepool

If Amsterdam wasnt such a cool city it would have been an awful trip. After being buzzed in to the hotel which consists of only a door from the exterior you are faced with stairs that can only be compaired with those of medieval catherdals. The staff are unfriendly and unhelpful, our room was cleaned once in four days. The sheets were filthy and stained and insect ridden as was the rest of the 1920's style room. My friends and i were bitten several times. I would not reccomend this hotel to my worst enemy. The location on the other hand was good and very central.
