A short guide to: Canal Loop

The classic Amsterdam image of stately canals, the Canal Loop is principally the Herengracht and Keizersgracht, lined with gracious tall 17th and 18th-century houses. Some of these are now museums, most notably the eccentric Kattenkabinet. The Amstel is a more down-to-earth waterway, lined with houseboats and famous for its classic much–photographed Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). The floating Flower Market is also a much-loved canal feature.

Incredible for College Kids and the Young at Heart!

This hotel was in a great location for my boyfriend and I. It was a short distance to lots of bars, coffeeshops, and other types of night life. It was also close to sight seeing attractions. The hotel probably wouldn't have been perfect for my parents but it worked great for us!!!

Wonderful Location

The Hotel Atlanta is best suited for singles or couples who are interested in doing Amsterdam on a small budget. The hotel itself is not stellar. It is four floors with no elevator and steep Amsterdam steps. The rooms are small, but clean and the shared areas are well maintained. The location is wonderful as the hotel is a short walk to the major museums, canal, shopping area and square. The Hotel Atlanta is also convenient to the train as routes 4 and 9 run north to the Centraal Station. I recommend this hotel for the European backpacker types who are trying to see as much as possible while spending little money and time in their rooms.

So Not Impressed

I read a review that the stairs were steep but could not believe them when I saw them. Lugging my suitcases up 3 flights of stairs was a new form of torture. The hotel is also surrounded by bars which is great when you want to go out but not so great when you're trying to sleep. The hotel was clean (except the toilet - sticky floor and not so pleasant smell). Good for those in a budget, I had chose it because it was cheap and I was only in time for 1 night. Looking back, I wish I put up the extra cash for another hotel.

Not good for old people

The roms were clean and nice. They were very helpful at the front desk. Breakfast was very nice and the location of it. The only thing was that you had to ask for the towels, but they had them there for you. I like the area that it was in also. Going up the staitsd

Decent choice...

Overall was satisfied with this hotel. Staff were friendly, room was plenty accommodating. Few comments - no elevators here and those stairs are STEEP. Not fun with your luggage. Also, the hotel is right in the middle of the busy Rembrantplein area, so expect noise well into the overnight hours. It's not unbearable at all, but if you're not used to sleeping with some noise in the background you may not want to stay here.

Great location and good value

I was in Amsterdam over a very busy time so all hotels were very expensive but this was cheap, and really well located so I grabbed it. For the price it was worth it, small rooms and a bit noisy at night but when you hare paying half what you would pay in other hotels you can't expect everything. If your objective is to get to Amsterdam on a budget this is perfect. If you are taking your girlfriend for a romantic getaway and want to impress her... maybe try something else.

Hotel Atlanta - Good Stay

As students we booked the hotel in advance and received a really good rate for two nights in January which was a bonus, we were greatly surprised when we arrived at the hotel, as we were not expecting much for the price we paid. The room and the hotel turned out to be really clean, tidy and comfortable we were pleasantly surprised and happy with the hotel, it is centrally located and close to all attractions and about a 20 min walk to Dam square, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Overall the hotel was excellent and we would definitely return to the hotel Atlanta, it is an ideal hotel for students or anyone on a budget not for the luxury seeking tourist.
