The hotel was kept in pristine condition and the staff were all very friendly. It felt safe as the main door is closed at 11pm with the night porter close to hand (we had to wait 5 seconds every night) to let you in. The location is lovely. The road runs alongside Vondel Park and there are some lovely houses to look at along the way. The room was immaculate. The only thing that was missed was on my part was a kettle and some coffee! It took no more that 10 minutes to walk to The Leidsplein and if you choose to travel by tram then a stop is close by in the main road.

We chose the hotel because of its philosophers theme and weren't disappointed. It was very interesting as each room was individual and there was a lovely enclosed garden where you could sit and think. (The stairs in the hotel were steep and narrow and may be a problem to some people). The hotel was easy to get to (tram 1) and there were restaurants nearby and also a large park with cafe. It was in a quiet and pleasant area of Amsterdam. The Van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum were walking distance as was the Film museum, although I think this is moving. Staff were very polite and helpful and lots of maps and information were available near reception. Recommended for people who want something a bit different.
