Excellent views

Great views and very comfortable room. Definitely in need of a little refurb if you look closely but very clean and friendly staff. Views friom the room and the bar just amazing. Totally worth the extra walk to the central areas. Great diner two blocks away for breakfast.

adequate

We used the subway to see many of the local attractions and found that it was easy to get around the city. We also felt very safe and comfortable using the subway.

Enjoyed our stay in New York but wouldn't stay at Bentley again

Walk, taxi and subway it to see NYC for what it is! Get out early morn & have breakie on the go. Do the main sights early week as crowds get busier mid week towards the w/end. Do "Top of the Rock" in the day, pay an extra $10 & go back on the eve - open til 12am & has great views of the Empire State. Take comfy shoes as even with cab trips and not always walking, the hard concrete pavements play havoc with your feet! Finally, tip, tip, tip.....it's expected everwhere!

Reasonably priced - not overly impressed

My room wasn't ready when I arrived (at 4 p.m.) and it took the staff about 10 minutes to figure out a solution. They offered me an upgrade at no additional charge. The restaurant wasn't available the 2 nights I stayed due to private functions. Good restaurants in the neighborhood.

Nice NYC hotel at reasonable cost

Convenient location -- near lots of restaurants, near subway, views of Queensboro Bridge/ East River -- really nice room that was actually 2 rooms, corner view from two angles, overall a great deal. Parking convenient, nearby. We'd go back.

Loved the roof top restaurant, would go back.

I really liked the location of this hotel, it was not right in the middle of things. Love the roof top restaurant and sitting outside in the evening. Can't really fault this hotel, it was not luxury but certainly served a purpose.

Very good and recommended

Although not next door to major attractions, the hotel was rather affordable and easily accessible. It was very clean with good service. The room was very nice and large with a flat TV, clean bathroom and excellent queen bed, but I thought the cooker and microwave were out of place for such an upscale hotel. During my stay there, the only issue I had was that my room's airconditioner was rather old and the cover came out while trying to adjust the temperature, but that was quickly fixed the next day without need to ask. When I asked for transportation to JFK airport on checkout, the concierge proposed a taxi, while the porter offered a hotel car for $5 more than the official NYC taxi rate. I thought that miscommunication was strange, but took the porter's advice. That ride was OK and fast even though it was an unmetered car. However, my feeling is that the porter received a commission on that transfer, even though the service and quality of the car was nothing more than that of a regular cab. Further, I thought that the driver may have not been licensed to transfer passengers for money. Last, the driver said that there was an accident on the freeway on the way to the airport and took a different route, which I felt that it could be an excuse to avoid the toll road. In general, I would stay again and highly recommend the hotel to others.
