The Grayline bus tours are good for an overview of New York. However, in August they are fairly slow moving with long queues - we'd recommend to just purchase a one day pass.

Tip - if you're staying at weekend you can park for free on the street outside as there is building work there Mon-Fri. If this is full, park anywhere at night then try the bus station early am as there's a multi-storey there which isn't too costly (less than $20 per day). Better still, you don't need a car in NY but we were at the end of a road trip so had one anyway.

Instead of getting a taxi take a walk into town, we did this the whole time we were there and it only takes 10 mins.

hotel had everything you would need inc air con and free wi-fi in the room. staff were really pleasent and willing to help with anything. brilliantly located. only a 5min walk from port authority, only 5 min walk from the nearest subway and only 10 min from time square. overall really happy with the hotel.

Only a 2 minute walk, 1/2 block from Javits center. If you are spending most of your time at a convention, this is a convenient place to stay.

Our only complaint is that there were no curtains to draw to keep out the early morning light. Very strange as I've never been in a hotel that you couldn't draw the curtains. Also, 4 long blocks was a bit of a walk from the nearest subway. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay. The staff and people working at the front desk were very helpful, informative and friendly, and the continental breakfast was very nice. An A+ on those things.

The location of the hotel is the main problem. Catcalls from the car workshop directly acros the road. The area is a bit isolated. best season would be when the convention center is in use. Just alright.
