Very expensive but so is every hotel in NYC. Staff a bit snooty. Charged to store our bags on final day. Not particularly baby friendly, There is a fridge for mini-bar stuff but it has a note saying it can detect when other things are added and will charge you. Therefore we couldn't store baby milk or food in the fridge. Wireless internet is a complete and utter rip off at $15 per day. It's free in the lobby but even then it was very flakey and slow. Having said all of that, it is fairly convenient to uptown, times square, subway (outside the front door). All within walking distance. One tip, there is a cafe next door that serves everything food wise. Great for breakfast and coffee in the morning (no coffee making facilties in the room).

First of all the Doubletree is not in the luxury bracket its definitely in the budget league however the things that make this stand out for me from other budget hotels were the efficiency, warmth and professionalism of the staff who work there. This was my 4th trip to NYC over the years and this was without doubt the most pleasant introduction to the trip - Venus on reception was charming, got us checked in quickly and sent us on our way with our cookies! Venus is a true asset to the Doubletree on Lexington and 51st. The room was spacious enough for two fairly sloppy Brits to share comfortably and the amenities were good. The air conditioning unit was a little noisy at first but you soon get used to it and it can be easily controlled. My one gripe about the room was that Internet Usage was charged at approximately ten dollars for a 24 hour rolling period, i guess most visitors to the doubletree would probably only need to use the internet for short bursts to check whats on etc and therefore i think the wifi should be free as standard. I would definitely book the 51st and Lexington Doubletree again because of the staff, the efficiency and the location is great for being downtown within 20 mins as the tube station is right outside the front door.

i have stayed here before but never again. the staff were very unhelpful and rude, the concierge on two different occasions gave us wrong information and were rude. the front of house staff were equally as bad, i requested two rooms adjoining or at least next door which i was told we had then to discover on going to our rooms we were down the corridor from each other, i phoned but got no satisfaction or even pleasantness from the desk. The only thing going for this hotel is its location!

The Doubletree Metropolital is possibly the nicest hotel I've stayed in in New York. The rooms are spacious with Neutrogena toiletries, and the beds are comfy - oh!! and they give you warm cookies on arrival! We arrived at midday & checkin time was at 3,but there was a room ready so they let us have it early. There is a left-luggage room if you have to leave your bags at any time.Staff were so helpful & friendly. Our only hiccup was when they were supposed to book us a cab to the airport & when it didn't arrive it turned out they hadn't booked one ater all - this happened to several of us who were waiting. The location is excellent, 3 mins from Grand Central, 3 blocks from 5th Avenue & right in mid-town.

The Staff were very friendly. The food was nice. The alcholic drinks in the bar were very very expensive £15 for a southern comfort and lemonade also a vermouth with lemonade.

I booked this hotel because of the reviews I read about it and it live up to them. While in NY most days are spent walking the streets. This hotel was great value for money. In a great location, close to a subway station so we got the E subway from the airport to 1 minute walk to the hotel. It is also in walking distance to the sights also. Would go back and use this hotel again.

This hotel is in a good location and although it is used by lots of business people it is ideal for vistors who want to be in a good area but not pay the expensive prices of the other hotels. I went with friends 3 ladies out and about and we got around by metro the station close by and on foot. Also took in a broadway show to see the Jersey boys excellent pre booked before we left UK.. Enjoyed sholl through central park rockfellow centre , Empire state, times square, staten island and of course the shops Macys bloomingdales saks. Good for food restraurents cafes etc and you have to go to central station what an experience we are already looking to save for another trip..

I have stayed in a number of hotels in midtown East, and this one probably has themost spacious and comfortable rooms. It is also relatively quiet. The rooms all seem to be well appointed and maintained - not "worn" like some competition in the neighborhood.

Perfect location, comfortable room, pleasant staff, value for money. Cafe Metro next door catered well for breakfast and any other snack needs. I will definitely return to this hotel for my now regular visits to my son who is working in NYC.
