see all hotels in Central Park"A disappointing quality of hotel compared to the website"by J from Bridgend Wales
A very good location for the Met and the other occupiers of the Lincoln Centre. The hotel has pretensions to be upmarket but it falls short by a long way.Repeated requests to deal with faults in the room failed to deal successfully with the problems.e.g. the shower head still fell off at the end of 5 days and after repeated requests!! The hotel presumably thought it was above the usual USA practice of having tea/coffee making in the room--but to charge over $14 to have a pot for two delivered is a bit rich.It is the first US hotel I have stayed in without an ice-bucket in the room. Our room overlooked Broadway and the noise levels at night were very high, particularly traffic. A very convenient location but a lot of downsides.
"Good location but not worth the money"by A from Lincolnshire
The Empire Hotel has a good location just off West Central Park and is a couple of blocks from subway and local museums. I found the staff friendly, especially in the Restaurant. The rooms were ok but typically small for New York, especially the bathroom. No bath either just a shower and a bath would have been really much better for tourist travellers.
"Perfect location"by L from Leicester
Located off Broadway, 30 seconds walk to Central park. and just a ten minute walk to Times Square. Subway round corner which made going anywhere in Manhatton easy. The hotel was lovely inside- very modern and arty- beautiful! The room looked just like it did in the picture and the quality and cleanliness of the room was excellent. Bathroom was really modern too.
"Would be my choice of hotel when visiting NY again!!!"by L from London
Perfect location! A block from Central Park and a short walk from Columbus Circle. Loved the breakfast room and the extremely friendly service from all members of the hotel staff. Our room was very hot and we couldn't adjust the heating, but we were offered a different room instead. Beautiful hotel and would highly recommend it.
"Will book again on a return visit"by J from Warwickshire
After reading many reviews about various hotels in New York, I booked this hotel for our honeymoon. The location is central and the hotel looked modern, clean and of a high standard. We were very impressed from the moment we stepped out of the taxi where the bellman was waiting to take our bags, to the receptionist who upgraded us upon learning it was our honeymoon, to the concierge who helped us book tickets, to the decor of the room and the hotel. I have never slept in such a comfortable bed. I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. We stayed for a week over Christmas, and we ate in the hotel restaurant (the Center Cut) on Xmas Day, the food was excellent. The hotel has been renovated within the last year to a very high standard. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to be located centrally but just far enough away from Times Square in order to chill out. A fantastic find and I would definately stay when we return to the Big Apple.
"Fine for the Met"by M from London
This is the ideal place to stay if you are planning a visit to the opera as it is across the road from Lincoln Centre. Service and cleanliness are impeccable, but the newly decorated rooms have very little space (we were in a "superior" room - shudder to think what the standard rooms are like) and the bathrooms have the worse designed sinks anywhere. Do not take many clothes - no storage either.
"Very Noisy Air Con and Lift Shaft"by R from Wolverhampton
The Empire Hotel is great on the eyes but not so great on the ears. If you go and stay there you will be sure to get a great location but you might be so tired from being kept up all night by the air con and the lift. We found the staff to be helpful and the rooms to be small but really well done out and obviously freshly renovated. It is a shame they couldn't have put in new aircon systems. The internal rooms face onto each other and so if you are in a corner you will hear your own aircon, the neighbours aircon and also the lift shafts. It was very annoying and had we been there longer than 2 nights we would have asked to be moved. If you go there make sure you ask for a room as far away from the life as poss!! Can't really beat the location, but could be more comfortable.
"Will go back"by C from East Sussex
This was our sixth visit to New York and we found this hotel extremely convenient especially for the super restaurants in the uptown district plus not too far from museums, Central Park and shopping of course! Hotel room was small (had to put our case under the desk!) but otherwise ok.
"Elegant Surprise"by J from Connecticut
What a surprise to find such elegant accomodations within easy reach of Lincoln Center and everywhere else in the City. Definitely will come back.
""Everything I could have asked for - plus more!""by P from London
I booked the hotel literally 4 days before flying to New York and managed to get what I thought was a cracking price for a 4* hotel. Upon arrival we arrived almost 2 hours earlier than we were told the room would be ready, expecting to have to leave our bags and grab some lunch, but we were able check in without a problem. Room was compact but totally acceptable for two people in Manhattan. The finish was to a very decent standard in a contempary style with retro colours. The bed, a decent size and extremely comfortable. We overlooked the back so had minimal road noise although the old A/C unit might disturb lighter sleepers, other than that no complaints. The bathroom is smart but tiny although the monsoon shower is lovely (but floods the bathroom which is the only minor drawback being overly critical!) The Subway is nearby and Central Park just a short walk away. We both loved the hotel and would definitely look to stay there again when I next there.
