Great New York Hotel

If you only have a few days, try and plan yourself a flexible itinery, and speak to others who have been before. That way you can enjoy your time in New York without spending hours each day deciding what to do, whilst having the option to make changes if need be.

Major disappointment

Comfortrable bed, but the bathroom was very small. Had a designer?! shower that was awkward, unpleasant and soaked the bathroom floor. Sacarcely room for a sink. Not a very inviting place with some kind of weird 20-something attitude.

Great Location, beautiful, but needs ,pre reponsive management

The subway is great, if you are going to be there more than a few days buy the unlimited one week pass, it is a bargain.

Elegant, Clean and Reasonably Priced

This was one of my best stays in NY, have been trying quite a few hotels around midtown since Barbizon closed and decided to give this one a try. The hotel's location has far exceeded my expectations, I haven't been to the upper west side for sometime and was positively surprised. The rooms are very elegant, clean and everything from Frette robes to L'occitane toiletteries is carefully chosen. The SPA downstairs is also one of the best I've tried in a long time. I hope they keep up this quality, I'd definitely go back.

Perfect for Lincoln Center

So convenient for attending the ballet--literally right across the street. Room was quiet, beds were very comfortable. Did have to call to get instructions for the shower but they were prompt in answering. Plan to stay there again.

Rooftop terrace/pool was the highlight

The room was quite small, even by NY standards, and we had problems with the faucets & hot water in the bathroom. Check-in/out took forever. That said, the room was clean, I loved the L'Occitane toiletries and the location was great (super convenient to Lincoln Center, Central Park, subway, etc). But, far and away, the highlight was the rooftop pool (mainly a lap-pool) and terrace/bar.

Ideal hotel for opera lovers

Room was very small, but tastefully decorated. When we arrived, the air-conditioning was noisy and ineffective. We reported this and it was put right the same day. Overall well satisfied. Hotel is ideally situated for the Lincoln Center

Great Hotel Great Location

This is a great hotel right next to central park. Read some not so good reviews before the trip but found none of them to be correct. Would highly recommend the Empire and would definitely return!!
