see all hotels in Midtown"Great Location - poor rooms and service"by k from Glasgow
This hotel is in a great location just across from Penn Station and is ideal for those travelling in and out of Newark International by air. The check in was slow with long wait and no customer service whatsoever. Room was like something from the 1920's. We only stayed one night and was fine if just passing through.
"Great for the money!"by M from London
Great for the money you pay!. Very worn off and very dated, but location of the hotel and the price you pay makes it acceptable.
"The worst service I ever experienced in a US hotel"by K from Rotterdam
Up to 50 people waiting for 3 (!) hours in line for check in! The line is starting around noon and is there still at 11 P.M. At the frontdesk (witn 8 computers) here are only two employees , who made the decision not to be in a hurry today and take a minimum of 10 minites to check you in. And when you reach your room at last, be prepared for a surprise: che electronic key isn't working (mine never did spontaneously), so go back to the frontdesk again
"Great location and cheap for New York"by M from Perth, Australia
Great location, cheap for New York, just needs a little updating, room clean and comfortable, good size, shower needs overhaul, a lick of paint would do wonders for the hotel. Otherwise good, you get what you pay for!!
"worst hotel i ever stayed in"by m from ireland
this hotel is definitely not for the faint hearted, i have never stayed in a more grotty hotel in my life, my advice to anybody booking this hotel is stay somewhere else
"Great location and good value for central New York"by D from Chester, UK
Came with my wife by NJ Transit train from Newark airport, so very easy to find, as it is just opposite Penn Station in NY (confusingly, not the same station as Penn Station Newark). Wonderful to be so close to Time Square (5 mins walk), Empire State Building (10 mins), Macy's (1 min), Madison Square Gardens (1 min) and lots of interesting places to eat for 10 dollars or less. The room was rather tired in terms of decor, but clean and large enough for two. Everything worked, although no internet access in our room (although some do have DSL access). The wifi access in the lobby was expensive (3 dollars for 1 hour) and so slow as to be almost useless; I did not try the business suite, but I imagine that would be better. Great coffee in the deli in the lobby. A really buzzy place, although incessant vehicle horns and emergency vehicle sirens at night, plus the usual city sounds, made it less than relaxing, but that would apply to even a top hotel. This was a small price to pay for being in the centre.
"good visit"by s from ireland
hotel was good had a great location and was central to everthing guys on the door getting cabs were excellent
"How long can a check in take"by J from Manchester
My stay started badly. It took over an hour standing in a line just to check in. It wasn't a long line it was just very slow service with only two people on the check in desks. Is this management incompetence or complacency? no one could tell me or seemed to care. It would have had to be exceptional to recover from that start and it wasn't.
"Peninsula Hotel"by J from Walsall
We were delighted with location of hotel - about 8 mins. walk from Time Squ. Cross road for Maddison Squ.Gardens. Hotel lacked any reasonable eatery. Lindy's was rediculously over priced. Very good eatery for all meals across road called Salt& Pepper. Also good Irish Bar. Hotel needs to have tea/coffee facilities in rooms and a chair for each person.
"Never Again!"by J from Liverpool
I was impressed until the lift doors opened at the 7th floor it was like the hotel from the film "The Shinning", i booked a superior room and i wouldnt of let my worst enermy sleep there! they then moved us to the 14th floor which had been newly refurbished so it wasnt so bad in the end! oh an if you dont like queing up definately dont book this hotel as we waited 2 hours to check in!
