see all hotels in Central Park"Good Value Hotel with Helpful Staff"by O from London
I booked this room for five nights with a friend as a last resort. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, there is no elevator, but there are nice strong men available to carry your bags if you need it. Yes, you get woken up at five in the morning by the pipes, but once you know what that is, it's easy to turn over and continue sleeping. It's location is quite far from the central tourist area or financial area but if you like to walk, there are lots of shops to be seen from the walk down and there's a bus and subway stop nearby so you'll always have those links. My primary motivation for this trip was to show a friend round new york and she definitely enjoyed it. We even found parking on the first night there, although having a car in NYC is sheer stupidity. The staff were very helpful, even offering to open the bar after it was closed. All in all, enjoyable, comfortable and a relaxing stay was had in Marrakech.
"Not as good as it looks"by A from Brighton
Marrakech looked great on lineand also when we pulled up outside. As we entered however, the shabby carpet was a taste of what was to come. Our room was VERY basic, one plug socket, no mirror in the bedroon, but it was clean. As we only used it to sleep in it was ok, but I wouldn't return. The best thing about it was the proximity to great transport, both subway and underground, so we got around the city quickly and easily. Also, some fab places to eat breakfast-Metro Diner and Arties especially.
"Will not be going back"by E from Liverpool
Although the room looked nice - the walls, floors and corridors are so thin you can hear everything else that is going on in the other rooms. The wireless didn't work. The radiator clanged every 15 minutes and we barely got any sleep at all. Disappointing. Plus points, its right next to the subway station.
"Can't wait to go back"by J from South Wales
We arrived in New York at JFK and took a shuttle to central Manhattan, we took a taxi upto 103rd Broadway. We arrived to early for check-in but the doorman took our bags off our hands and stored them for us, upon checking in the staff were very welcoming and helpful, our bags were in our room waiting for us. The room itself was small but comfortable, very romantic and cosy. The hotel was in great condition and the bar and reception area was very welcoming. The staff were fantastic and friendly and were always full of helpful advice and tips for us! When it was time to leave we were allowed to check out and leave our bags at the hotel ($2 per bag) for the remainder of the day. The hotel arranged upon request for our transfer back to JFK. Overall FANTASTIC! We will be returning here as the spot was ideal for us, close enough to the action but quiet in the night, and plenty of restaraunts to choose from.
"would definitely stay here again"by L from Belfast
For the price range, this really was a very pleasant place to stay. Location was great - subway station was right beside us and restaurants/cafes were all close by also. Rooms were warm and clean and the hotel was quiet at night. There is no lift, the corridoors are dark and in need of some updating of decor, but the room itself was decorated very nicely. I would stay here again.
"Last 2 nights in New York Reasonable Hotel"by L from West London
Looked for ages for a reasonable hotel, ended up getting a good deal with the Marrakech. Taxi drivers weren't too sure where to go, it's in line with Central Park 10minute walk. No lifts, but not too many flights of stairs. Bed was comfy, room was really modern, bathroom slightly small though. Busy on front desk, the men helping with bags were good, secuirty on front door. Subway right outside, excellent to get to 5th Ave, Times Square etc. otherwise $15 in taxi. Bar is nice, drinks are bit expensive, but they have happy hour which was good. Would stay again if I was looking for a cheapish, clean, nice hotel for a couple of nights. Really good diner 3 streets down called Metro - reccomend
"Great price for New York"by M from London
Nice atmosphere if slightly strange lighting. Staff were friendly. Room with 2 doubles was a good size, bathroom was small but more than adequate. Good restaurants in the area and great cocktails at the hotel bar!
"Great for price and location"by E from Hampshire, England
I was in NY for a business trip that extended into a vacation. Although I wouldn't recommend the hotel for business use (no internet, breakfast, tea or coffee and a bit far from the financial district) this hotel was perfect for a vacation base. The hotel is clean, the staff friendly and very helpful. It is located next to a starbucks which taks care of any drinks you want and there is a diner up the road for breakfast etc. It is also in a very friendly neighbourhood with lots of good restaurants. A couple of minutes walk to the subway makes it a good location for getting into mid and lower Manahattan (15 mins) and it is about a 10 min walk to Central Park. The price is reasonable for a NY hotel in a reasonable location. I would recommend it. Just remember to take earplugs (NY never sleeps).
"a very basic hotel"by A from Newcastle
A very basic hotel, with friendly but not particularly helpful staff. There were several (little but annoying) things missing from our room. A plug, remote control for the television etc, we had charges for calls not made added to our bill (after some negotiation they were removed) and had to be given two new sets of keys as they kept failing to work. Good location, and the bed was comfortable although overall the hotel was very tatty and overpriced. The hotel charge to leave bags at reception on your last day, and was accessed by a very steep staircase - not a problem for us, but some other less-mobile guests found this difficult
"Great spot"by M from Sligo, Ireland
Brilliant staff and a chilled out bar to relax in after a day of site seeing and before you go out to hit the town. It's a little far up on the Upper West Side but the subway is at the door and it's only 10 mins to Time Sq, 15 mins to the Village. Taxi's are no problem in the night time. Close to Central Park for your morning run, great Diner just down the road for breakfast, and 'Tap a Keg' up the road is the perfect bar to meet the locals and watch your wife get chatted up.
