A short guide to: Midtown

Some of NYC’s best-known landmarks are north of 14th and south of 59th—or Midtown Manhattan. Here, couples kiss atop the Empire State Building. Grand Central Station’s opal-faced clock is a famed meeting spot. While fortunes are made on Wall Street, fortunes are spent at Fifth Avenue’s shops. Other highlights include Madison Square Garden, the United Nations, and the Garment and Diamond districts.

Good hotel, but it needs triple glazing

For breakfast, I thoroughly recommend the Longwood Gourmet - just across the street and excellent value for money.

Peeling Paint and Comfy beds

Avoid anywhere with private security firms providing security screening - they are nothing more than uniformed thugs and seem to go out of their way to ruin your visit.

Good location - busy at New Year

Rooms not ready when we arrived at 3pm, only one of two ready at 5pm... Once we were finally in our rooms, all was fine. The location is good for Midtown. Staff were fairly helpful and not intrusive. Annonymous hotel but perfectly good as a base for a visit.
