Bad HVAC system, couldn't get temperature right. Lighting in room inadequate; too dark. Kind of cheesy how everything had a price (tag) on it.

And found it to be over-hyped. Yes, it has a swanky lobby and service is sharp, but I was not pleased with what you get when you arrive in your room. I know it is New York, and I've done my share of affordable and small rooms in Manhattan, but this is not what I expected at the W. Next time I'll stay again at one of my usual designer hotels in the city, giving the W a miss.

Very modern, very "designy" hotel in great location for walking around. Rooms are tiny but very well decorated and maintained. Great lobby bar.

I was skeptical about going to this hotel, after reading some negative reviews. But I had a great stay. The room was clean. The lobby was very classy and nice. The only negative was the air. It was very hot in the lobby and the room. I tried to change the temperature, but it was set at only one temperature... 75-degrees.

Subway is just outside the hotel, so you can skip a cab most of the time.

Rooms on Lexington Ave will be loud. We had a high floor, therefore, OK. Good location for Mid-Town attractions and Theatre district. Not so good if you want to spend your time in SoHo or Greenwich. Overall a great hotel, at a decent price.

Room was rundown and needed lots of maintenance -- unlike any other W we've stayed in. We checked in and left our baggage with the bellhop, then came back later and no one was around to get it. We then called down from our room to have it brought up, and then no one followed through. I had to go down again, and again no one was there, so we waited another 15 minutes or so and finally the bellhop arrived and said no one had told him anything about bringing it up. Really shoddy service.

Try The View Restaurant at the Marriot Marquis in Times Square. A 360 degree revolving restaurant that gives you a panoramic view of Manhatten while you dine. Set Menu price but book in advance.
