This is a perfect place to stay if you go the night before a cruise, you can see the ship come in and can walk to the terminal. The only negative thing I have to say is we got there early and check in was not for a couple of hours, but even knowing we were there, we could not get in the room until over an hour after check in time because it had not been cleaned yet, so we waited over 4 hours to check in.

Me and my boyfriend would eat breakfast at the hotel then eat a huge dinner and if we had leftovers we would just eat them for lunch the next day. We tried to limit going out to eat just for dinner and we'd spend around $80-$90 but we always had leftovers. Also we brought tons of drinks and snacks. Not only are they great on the beach but also great just to keep in the room in case you wanted a snack.

We have stayed at this hotel quite a few times. It has a wonderful view and great location to the Strand area. The walls are a bit thin, but the view makes up for it.

Hotel under construction- we were unaware of this until arriving in busy Galveston. Very long check in process, in which we were told that if we wanted to keep the room we booked with the ocean view we would be required to change rooms mid-trip. To remedy this they gave us an upgrade to a suite with a very bad view of the parking lot. Additionly our upgrade had a king bed, we were a family of four. They brought in two twin beds for our children to use. The beds however were left standing in our room-unmade. We had to find room for them in the hotel room and set them up and make them. Most of desk staff was unfriendly, with the expection of one person. If you need something in the evening- forget it. The parking is nice, the rooms are clean & tasteful, the maid service excellent, the breakfast is well done for it's small size, the views of the harbor (besides our room view) were fantastic, location very nice-in walking distance to downtown, and harbor resturants. Would I stay here again-perhaps because of it location & cleaniliness. Can I reccommend it to others-depends on your needs. Tip-call hotel after booking and confirm your room assignment & ask about construction!!!

Harbor House is extremely conveinent to downtown Galveston / Strand area and right next to where the cruise ships dock. I was dropping a relative off for a cruise and it was nice to walk out the door of the hotel to the cruise ship dock. Hotel is under construction at present time and as a result noise from future ballrooms is very high. Rooms were nicely maintained and feature large beams, storm shutters, good views of the channel and Strand area. Very conveinent to several attractions including aviation museum, Moody Gardens's, water park, off-shore museum, sea wolf park, railroad museum etc.

We stayed for one night prior to our cruise in April. The hotel is about 400 yds from the cruise terminal with 2 excellent restaurants within 50 yds. Unlike others on this review page, we were not disturbed by the noise from adjoining rooms and found the hotel staff friendly and helpful. The rates are a little pricey but this is an historic hotel in a resort town and the rooms are huge with 2 queen size beds, sofa, easy chair, coffee table, desk and 2 more chairs and for $20 you can leave your car in their parking lot during your cruise. We thought this hotel was good value - and it is a non-smoking hotel.

The Harbor House is in a great location to walk to all the restaurants and stores on the Strand. The room was big and comfortable. Our only complaint was that we could hear the people talking in the next room - including someone snoring at night! Earplugs solved this. Even with this drawback, we would stay at Harbor House again.
