Description


Location. The Purple Hotel Birmingham is located off junction six of the M6 motorway in Birmingham. The hotel is one and a half miles from the Thinktank science centre, two miles from the National Indoor Arena and 11 miles from the National Exhibition Centre.
Hotel Features. The modern purpose-built Purple Hotel Birmingham is decorated throughout in a fresh, contemporary style with bright furnishings. Guests can surf the web with complimentary Internet access and relax with a drink in the café bar where a large plasma television shows news and sports. In good weather guests can spill out onto the patio. Complimentary parking and laundry facilities are provided.

Breakfast is served daily for a surcharge. The café bar offers light bites and beverages throughout the day.

Conference facilities include meeting rooms for small groups.

Close to the centre, the Purple Hotel Birmingham provides easy access to the shops and nightlife of New Street, the history of the canals and jewellery quarter, and indoor entertainment such as cinemas and bowling alleys.

Guestrooms. The 90 air-conditioned en- suite guestrooms have luxury walk-in power-showers. All have wireless Internet or high-speed connections. Satellite television with movie channels is provided. All guestrooms are decorated in a contemporary style with pastel colour schemes reflecting an autumn mood.

Expert Tip. The history of Birmingham is closely bound with the hundreds of canals and bridges in the city centre. An easy walking trail can be picked up from Birmingham's tourist office at The Rotunda, 150 New Street.

From Birmingham International Airport (BHX):
Distance to the Purple Hotel Birmingham is 11 miles, approximately 15 minutes' drive.

Getting there. A free Skyrail monorail runs every couple of minutes from Terminal 1 to Birmingham's International train station and the city's National Exhibition Centre (NEC). Black cabs are available 24 hours a day from an official rank in front of the airport passenger terminals. The fare to the city centre is approximately 18 GBP. Shuttles run every 30 minutes into the city centre. Buses link the surrounding areas to the airport. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. There is an extensive bus and train network in Birmingham city centre, and a tram runs between Birmingham and Wolverhampton. The centre can easily be explored by foot.

Great Stay

I would recommend staying here, Star City in walking distance and is lots to do.

Nice quiet Hotel

Very quiet hotel, Nice big rooms with good facilities. The Breakfast buffet leaves a lot to be desired at £6, But besides that it is a lovely hotel and I recommend it for a business trip.

Good value, and close to the motorway.

Rooms are clean and well sized. Overall the hotel is modern feeling. It close to the motorway, which is good for avioding city traffic when getting there and leaving. The only negative was a bit of confusion with towels not being in the room, but a quick call to reception and towels were prompty brought to the room. This did happen twice, but not really a major issue!
