Could be excellent if well managed

Great location nr city centre, excellent transport and secure parking (Free). Comfortable clean rooms around a courtyard - perfectly clean. But management seem to have lost interest! Had to argue to get drinks at 10.30pm. Good breakfast menu and service but could have been cooked better. Overall, a great place if you get a decent price and don't need 24hr facilities. The friendly staff deserve better management.

not happy

lets start with positives: very comfortable bed, room very clean. Breakfast - full english very nice with waitress service, although would have prefered self service. Negatives: Inside reception very dingy, no porter to help with baggage to room, although directions pointed out. Lots of stairs, no lifts so not suitable for disabled visitors. Unable to get a good nights sleep some guests spent the night in the courtyard laughing, singing and talking loudly until early hours of morning. Continious knocking by other guests on bedroom doors to enter. One guest had TV volume very loud by 6am. Also a few guests decided to have a sing song in their room in wee hours of morning. Front desk service very unwelcoming, definitely more training required. Next morning I was shattered could not wait to leave.

Fantastic value, great service

To be honest I was a little nervous when I walked into the temporary reception as the hotel is currently undergoing a major refurbishment and parts look like a building site. However, the staff were very helpful (e.g. provided a hairdryer as promised) and my room was superb. It had been recently refurbished and although only small (a single room), it was more like a 3-4* room with a very comfortable bed, LCD TV and lare shower. Breakfast was freshly cooked and the coffee was excellent.

A cheap alternative but a little out of town!

Not a great deal of money has been invested into this place despite the refurbishment but it's not a bad choice for a low cost stay. It's quite a shlep along the Hagley Road however and at night the underpass at Five Ways is dodgy to say the least so get a cab! Room was entirely clean but the bed was fine, traffic noise was relentless however!

Basic and Simple

If you are on a tight budget than highly recommend. Apart from the beds (which are Okish) can't fault the hotel for hte price I paid. Good car park near town centre.
