Myself and 3 girl friends chose to stay at the Marriot in Cardiff as we had tickets to see Dolly Parton in concert. The Marriot is in an ideal spot for the CIA which was our concert venue, only a 2 minute walk. It was also only a 5 minute walk from the train station so we were able to walk there rather than getting a taxi. Directly opposite the hotel is Mill Lane which is a street full of cafe's, bar's and restaurants whereby you can eat and drink either inside or ouside on the tables and chairs under large umbrella's - ideal if it's a hot sunny day, although that is rare in cardiff!! The hotel is situated right in the centre of cardiff so is very central for shopping, sports events, hen and stag nights etc. The actual hotel is very well maintained, the rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast room was being refurbished while we were there so it had been moved to a different room, this didn't cause us any problems however and the breakfast was gorgeous!! We were checked into the hotel very promptly at about 12pm even though check-in wasn't supposed to be until 2pm and the staff members were very polite and friendly. Overall a very enjoyable stay!

If you don't rent a car, getting into Cardiff from the airport is quite easy by public transport. A free bus picks you up outside the terminal, and about 10 minutes later drops you off at the train station. The bus is timed to meet the train. The train costs about 3 GBP into Cardiff Central or Queen Streets (approximate 25 min ride), and from there you can walk to your hotel. The Cardiff Marriott is closest to Cardiff Central Station.

It is the hotel I always choose in Cardiff. It is convenient when travelling by train or car and the overall standard is excellent. The staff are friendly and appear to be very efficient. Only one criticism: There was a long delay for a lift on departure and being on the 8th floor it was too far up to use stairs.

Lovely hotel in terms of the rooms & foyer and very near the train station. No hesitation in recommending it but apart from breakfast - don't eat there. We had an evening meal there that was surprising. The shrimps in the starter were encased in solidified fat. The Pizza was so thick and heavy it it could have been a dangerous weapon, but it was just inedible. The ravioli main course was not too bad but there were only 6 of them. The Medeteranian vegetables side order suffered from sun stroke. I can't think why else the brocolli was burnt. The waiter was pushy and a poser so I didn't bother complaining, but they got the message when I didn't leave a tip. I also believe they realised how bad the meal was after the main course, because they stopped asking if everything was all right. This is not what I have come to expect from a Marriott. To their credit, they do recommend a lovely restaurant accross the road called 'ASK'. Well worth a visit if you like Italian food.

Cardiff Bay can be reached by bus from just outside the hotel. Also go and see a game in the Millennium Stadium if you get the chance.

An excellent hotel in an extremely convenient position. Whilst it is currently in the middle of the St David's 2 redevelopment site this did not inpinge on our enjoyment of the hotel and its amenities.Convenient parking at a price. First rate breakfast. Friendly and ameniable staff.

Well located hotel which, when the development of Cardiff ends, will be easily accessible from outside the Principality
