Description

Location. The modern Apex City Hotel Edinburgh is located on the Grassmarket in the Old Town of Edinburgh, Scotland. The hotel offers clear views of nearby Edinburgh Castle and is close to the Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace, the Parliament buildings and the shops on Princes Street. Edinburgh Waverley train station is less than a mile away, while Edinburgh Airport (EDI) is seven miles from the hotel.
Hotel Features. The ultra-modern interior of the Apex City Hotel Edinburgh, which opened in 2002, leads off the medieval cobbled streets of the Grassmarket. Leather and steel armchairs are dotted around the lobby, which offers views of the castle through large windows.

The long Agua Bar and Restaurant serves Scottish specialities such as mille feuille of Highland game casserole. Charcoal-coloured banquettes line the walls, with broad dining chairs on the other side of the tables. For breakfast, guests can choose from a continental buffet or cooked Scottish breakfast. Drinks and light dishes are served in the adjoining bar area.

Complimentary wireless Internet is available throughout the hotel and there are three conference rooms for up to 70 people.

The hotel has four calm library spaces, with views of the castle. A selection of DVDs (surcharge) is available at reception.

Guestrooms. The Apex City Hotel Edinburgh's 119 guestrooms feature framed photographs of Edinburgh, back-lit headboards and suede armchairs. The airy rooms, decorated in neutral colours, offer wireless Internet access, satellite television, DVD players and tea/coffee making facilities. Bathrooms have baths and separate walk-in showers, heated towel rails and complimentary designer toiletries.

Pleasant atmosphere in the middle of the Grassmarket

Look out for shortcuts. Just up two flights of steps to the castle but various other steps to The Royal Mile are not so easy to spot.

Fantastic Gem in the heart of Edinburgh

Not the best breakfast served in the restaurant in my opinion. I thought you would be able to get much better value for money elsewhere. However, if you do dine in, its great to know htat you can have the breakfast delivered to your room for no extra cost!

Will definately return!

A wonderful restaurant just up the road called Maison Bleue is worth a visit. Excellent food, good wine and polite servers. Price very reasonble for the quality of the meals served.

Well-located and good service

I stayed only one night at the Apex but found it a very good value for the price I paid. The location is great; only a short walk from the sights of the Royal Mile. I had traveled on an overnight flight from the U.S. and arrived at the hotel around 7 a.m. local time--yet the staff was great and allowed me to check into my room right away. The room was small but neat and comfy. My overall assessment: nothing about this hotel particularly blew me away but, then again, I had absolutely no complaints at all about the stay. I found the staff very professional and accommodating. There is not a gym on site; but Apex City hotel guests can walk just a very short distance to one of the sister hotels to use the pool and workout facilities.

Would stay there again!

Lots of close by restaurants. Can walk there easily from the city/airport bus drop off. The hop on/off bus tour (which is actually very good and worth it even though its a small city) is right outside the door.
