Description

Location. The modern Apex International Hotel is opposite 14th-century Edinburgh Castle in central Edinburgh, Scotland. The Museum of Scotland, the Royal Mile and Princes Street's shops are within 500 metres. Edinburgh Waverley Station is 700 metres, approximately 10 minutes' walk away.
Hotel Features. The contemporary Apex International Hotel is flanked by historic buildings on the cobbled street Grassmarket. The cream and chocolate brown lobby has leather sofas, polished tile floors and modern art.

Offering panoramic Edinburgh Castle views, Heights restaurant serves modern Scottish and international dishes in minimalist surroundings. The informal Metro split-level brasserie and bar has leather benches and plasma screen television. Guests can sample international flavours in the brasserie or sip cocktails in the upper-level bar overlooking bustling Grassmarket.

The Apex International Hotel has five conference rooms for up to 200 people. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel. Guests have access to a onsite car park (surcharge).

The onsite Yu-Time Spa comprises a gym, sauna, solarium and indoor pool with Grassmarket and Edinburgh Castle views. Golfers can tee off at one of over 20 courses in and around Edinburgh.

Guestrooms. The Apex International Hotel's 171 guestrooms have wireless Internet access (surcharge), DVD players and cable television. Decor is understated and contemporary, with crisp white bed linen, wooden headboards, suede chairs and limited edition prints by Scottish photographer Richard Demarco. Rooms overlook Edinburgh Castle or George Heriot's School, allegedly the inspiration behind Hogwarts in the Harry Potter books. Bathrooms feature walk-in showers or bath/shower combinations with black granite counters and complimentary rubber ducks to take home.

Expert Tip. Five hundred metres from the hotel, guided tours of The Real Mary King's Close take visitors through an underground network of Edinburgh's 16th-century passageways beneath the Royal Mile.

Disappointing

Very disappointed with the service at this hotel. It was a Saturday and they were busy but we were informed that there was parking and when we arrived after a long journey there was no parking left and we had to go to a parking station some distance away and I left some bags with my wife and I had to lug the rest from the parking station and neither my wife or myself were offered any assistance with this. A GOOD hotel maintains service in quiet and busy times. Overall attitdue by most staff indifferent as best.

Loved Edinburgh

The location was great and the hotel was lovely. The only things I would of liked in the room were towelling robes and a mini bar. There was a dvd in the room and you could hire a dvd but they were years old.

We will return

We had a great stay. It is in the center of things. Cleanliness was good which is the main thing I look for in a hotel. There are a lot of places to get food near by. We will return if we go back to Edinburgh.

I think we were just unlucky

Plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance for both breakfast and dinner.

Do not stay in room 1018!!! Other than that a good hotel overall.

The actual hotel itself is very nice and in a great location, however the first night we were put in room 1018 which faces into the hotel. It had no air conditioning and you couldn't open the window. The room was like a sauna, we had one fan to cool us down. We requested another one but didn't get it. We spent one night in there and had to be moved - it was extremely uncomfortable. The staff moved us while we were out and the room we were moved to for the second night of our stay was very satisfactory. Overall we liked the hotel and it was in a great location.
